Thats awesome Paul65k....I bet we were in the same area some of the time.....I met my nephew from NY in Eugene and we went thru Coos Bay, Eureka and over on Ca 20 to Reno for a couple days. He rode back to NY and I continued south thru the Sierra Nevada's.....we stopped at the Drive Thru Redwood but they told us it was an hour wait and said we could walk thru...we declined.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys!
We have learned a few things from taking some pretty long trips over the years but the main thing is to have a plan on what you want to do and be flexible if you see something that you like even more when you get there.
We took a little heat this year from some friends about trailering our bike to and from CA (300 miles each way) to the starting and ending point of our trip......why don't you be a real man and just ride.....OK fair enough but this picture should help everyone understand why we didn't want to drive 5 hours each way through the desert on pure freeways at this time of year
PS.............we're already starting to plan a 3-4 week adventure next summer to Yellowstone and the "Badlands" areas!!
