    How much does dealer charge to install cam in M8?

    For those that have a dealer installed cam in their M8, would you mind telling me what the labor cost was? I am just curious as to what the rate is, just in case I end up doing some installs down the road.

    That's about what I was expecting. I may ask while at the dealer (since they like to quote jobs out of the book) but I was picturing roughly $1k for a cam installed.

    FWIW my indie shop charged me $450 labor for my cam change.
    I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol...

    I'm certainly no expert on cam swaps (I've only done one TC and two M8s so far), but what I can say is; it is a very time consuming job, especially if you include removing and replacing the stock cam bearing with a higher quality bearing. I wonder if some shops are omitting the bearing change from the procedure to speed things up a bit?

    Mine was billed at 6.5hrs.
    Did the cam,tappets,(and tappet guides)bearing,
    adj. pushrods and a tune.
    I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol...
