A bikers lesson learned..

Last year I traded up my 2011 to a 2020... stiletto red

On the 11 I let the shops do everything except the windshield..

This time I tried my hand at YouTube university and did it all myself

Just cosmetic and accessories

I installed my own
amp... speakers.. lowers..
factory 47 bars..
disassembled the inner fairing and sent it to be color matched
installed the Dakota guages...
installed accessory switch
backlit hand controls..
mirrors and obviously grips..

Got it all the way back together and... boom.. no guages..

2 days of troubleshooting.. I figured I damaged some of the wiring when I fished the bars.. which was a pain in the ass...

Not sure if that’s it but I am replacing that wiring and also the inner fairing wire harness.. I found that zip ties and the factory installed looms aren’t friendly to moving wires around..

So... I’m literally taking it all back apart..

What the lessons learned cost me

Replaced lower triple tree cause I broke that little turnsignal stud I couldn’t remove. $150

Replace Inner fairing wire harness.. cause zip ties effed some of the wires up $150

New handlebar wire harness $60

Miscellaneous screws that some how my workshop table ate

And the painstaking waiting period on shipping if painted parts during the winter season when apparently all painters are most busy..

Rewiring the handlebars.. when the parts come in and starting all over...

No questions here just wanted to write all the stuff out to see how much I have invested

Feels like I’d go to a shop if I had to do it again

There’s nothing like the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Mistakes happen. As long as you learn from them the experience will pay off down the road.
