Hi guys,

I want to put a set of ape hangers on my sg. Wondering who has done it and what bars you are running?
Looking at monkey bars but seem alittle pricey... Thinking of going 12-14 inch range. If you have any pics please share!

I personally run the Arlen Ness 13" Bagger Apes on my '10 Street Glide and am very happy with them. What's great about them is that since the elbows are 'modular' they are much easier to run wiring through. While the Yaffe Monkey Bars look great, they are a pain in the a$$ to run wiring through. Another good thing about the Modular bars is that you won't have to extend the wiring....at least I didn't have to on mine. We recently installed a set of the Monkey Bars and had to not only extend the wiring but also had to purchase a new clutch cable because the bars rise up before going down at the hand control area.

The below links will take you to a pages where you can read more about both bars.

Good info thanks! Could you take a pic of your bars from the seat? And what was the difference in install time between the ness and sands bars?

It's not the greatest photo but hopefully it will do. I would say the difference in installation time between the Modular Bars and the Monkey Bars is probably a couple of hours simply because of the time involved to extend the wiring as well as install a new clutch cable.

Is there anyone that makes kits for the SGs, with necessary wiring included? Looking to be able to do it myself coz I'm in Germany currently and they charge an arm and leg for labor

Yes, Bagger Werx offers Pre-assembled Apes that work on '96 & newer FLHT / FLHX / HD Trike models EXCEPT those with dealer installed cruise control. These retail for $739.95 and come in black or chrome finish and in 11", 14" and 17" heights.

Thanks! Does it still work with factory cruise control?

I have the 12" Monkey Bagger Bars which I installed myself. Yes I had to replace my clutch cable and front brake lines. As has already been mentioned, pulling the wires and lengthening them was a major pain in the a$$. You will also want to change your riser bushings to an upgraded urethane type and not run the stock oem bushings. All that said I'm still very happy with the result.

Has anyone out there used these pre-assembled bars? Curious of the quality of the grips, switches and levers
