Ok, first I will admit this is my first touring bike and I have a question, why put a stereo on a motorbike?

When do you use it?

Anyway, my real question is, has anyone considered doing away with the stereo and using the spaces to create some small storage nooks?

Cheers

Craig

I bought my first touring bike (SG) 3 months ago and I must admit I'm a little spoiled. I can't think of a time I have been on it that the radio or CD or MP3 isn't playing. So to answer your question, I use it whenever I'm on my bike. If your needing storage at your fingertips you might try the small windshield bags.

I have a flht. Electra glide standard. Came without a stereo, however I like it that way. Why because I can put in whatever I want for stereo, and am almost there.

I love riding with the stereo blaring. I ride my sport bike w/O one and miss the one on my SG.

Just got back from a two week road trip and only listened to CDs. Does anybody have sirius radio on their ride. HD wants $550 or so for the system....there has got to be something more cost effective.

Thank you all for the replies, I am about to head out for my first ride out of the city, I will crank up the stereo and see how it goes.

I always listen to music when I ride via ear phones.

For any real enjoyment I need to be able to hook up my phone.

Cheers

You might notice on a stock SG that the stereo isn't quite loud enough. I've added a 250 w j&m amp and about to add their rear speakers. They are a sponsor here, so yes it's a plug . John at j&m is always looking to give us deals :)

Buy the set up I have in the sake section and save some dough!

Headphones are scary for riding, can't hear your surroundings much

I listened to the Blackhawks game while riding on Saturday night. Nice to be able to combine two interests.

OMG! I rode a RK for several years and all I was doing was trying to figure out a way to listen to music on the ride. I finally bought my SG and it rarely, if ever gets turned off. Like stated before, once you've tried it, you'll never go back. that is, of course, if you are into music. There is plenty of places for storage. As always, you ccan purchase more, too.

prob dumb question but....... do you need any special adapter for my IPOD touch? The female jack looks different than the male plug on my scoot. I didn't take delivery yet,plz help me out txg cdplayer? how waterproof?

They wave some waterproof cases. I think plug is the same. I used before. The 2014 has a built in jack :)

Stereo is pretty waterproof . I've riding in heavy rain with no problems !
