Want an opinion on a very beaten to death subject from the SG Forum!!! Lol. Want to know if by taking out baffles of rc component slip ons. And leaving cat intact would be better than decatting the headpipes and leaving baffles in? Ohh and would either combo require my bike to get tuner? No other mods will be done besides one of the combos i stated above. I have a 2014 SG. Thanks for any Advice.

Just wondering what your looking to achieve? More Noise? Less heat? more decell pop?

there was a conversation on another forum a while back, Ill look and see if i can find it.

Dang wanted a little more sound but after clicking on the link i changed my mind. Thanks alot 14 for the link. Leaving things as is.

Guys for what its worth; I added Catless head pipes but kept my OEM setup just in case down the road state laws (here) start checking motorcycles. Another benefit for me was purchasing the exhaust system thru my HD dealer, having them install it and having them tell me they will still honor my warranty. I also went with '2 baffles and I may drop down to even smaller ones as everything is pretty loud now. I do have several friends that have de-catted their OEM pipes though and were happy with the $aving$.

HAWNHOG- Yes, I also added the Screaming Eagle airbox, The Rush head pipes and slip-ons and the Stage 1 download. I have literally NO heat on the right thigh now. There have been MANY opinions about whether you need to or not but it stands to reason to me that the better breathing is going to cause a lean condition if you don't.
Besides, I did the V&H Power Duals/Rush slip-ons & SERT for my 2011 96cu Road King with a Dyno and it made it run as good as a stock 103 (not the 2014 HO version).
Before I did all that to it I only added Rush slip-ons and the XIED from Nightrider ( http://sales.nightrider.com/XiED-Fuel-Management_c_1.html ) and that helped initially and only cost around $100. They slip in between your O2 sensors and the ECM and fool it into enriching the A/F. Slightly crude but was mildly effective!

Meanwhile back to the SGS, It really made a big performance boost and I will probably Dyno the SGS in the spring.

CAUTION: Removing a Cat from OEM pipes or adding aftermarket headpipes/slip-ons WILL interfere with your ability to hear your radio/music/etc. Another reason why I don't worry to much about the idiosyncrasies of the Boom Box anymore! Just sayin . . . . .

Thanks HULKSS for the Blog. This really is a great forum for all of us and there's always something to learn too!

HAWNHOG-Y es, they get pretty hot on the right side in the summer near your thigh.

Good article on the XIED accessory in American Iron Magazine here: http://www.aimag.com/2010/02/nightrider-xied/

I have done lots of reading and i talked to Stephen at nightrider, i went with the VIED for my SG. I wont be able to give a review till april -may tho.

Sent from my iPhone

Will be interested in seeing it and how the "adjustable model does.

i had the Samson True Duals with 4" tips with stock baffles when i bought it but the more i rode it was too high pitched. i wanted that deep low loud rumble. now i have the stock head pipe decatted with the 4" tips and no baffles. sooo much better. and my mpg went up 2 mpg. loud but too loud for anyone riding anywhere around you and you can still talk to someone beside you if wanted and not have to yell.

Took the baffles out of my 14 street glide sounds awesome !!!! Zero loss in preformance.. Took 20 minutes and cost 12 dollars for a 3 in hole saw... Sounds better than any aftermarket exhaust I have ever had for a fraction of the cost... Would recommend this to anyone looking for a nastier sounding bike. And it's not as loud as everyone on these forums say sounds perfect!!
