In looking through the posts in this forum and the suspension forum I'm not seeing a lot of info for good rear suspension options that are current. Really not trying to be "that guy."

Im a fatback, as my grandkids would say, coming in at 270 lbs, wife is 140 lbs. I ride solo most of the time and I don't believe a heavy duty shock is warranted.

But with that said, I have no idea what I should be looking at when comparing shocks. Stroke, spring rates etc. Or other companies that are reputable.

Any suggestions, links to theads, and all info are welcomed. I don't mind putting in the work if there is a good resource someone can point me to.

Thanks in advance

Believe it or not, I'm about the same weight as you. I went with Legends suspension rear shocks for my 21 'SGS. They are 13" that bolted right in, even though the originals were a 12" shock. Ride height is the same as the og pair. The pair that I bought are the remote reservoir type with separate adjustments for dampening and rebound. It did take quite a while to get them adjusted to how I liked them.

After setting the sag when first putting them on, setting the adjustment knobs to the middle setting, went for a ride. Noticable improvement over stock. Fine tuning from there takes several rides. I mean take a ride, remove bags, adjust, replace bags, and ride. It eventually got there.

But like you, the majority of my riding is solo. So no remembering different settings between solo and 2 up. I also didn't go with heavy duty springs.

They are expensive though. But they do have a lifetime warranty on them. The only cost to you is the price to ship them to Legend. Here is a link to their warranty page. https://service.legendsuspensions.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052775731-Warranty-Returns

This link is to the shocks that I have. https://www.legendsuspensions.com/product/revo-arc-remote-reservoir-fl-2014-2024/

I have Legend Revo A on the back of my SG work great.

my 2017 Has Legends Revo A (130) which are Heavy Duty technically. good for 500lbs...but the light duty are for "less than 300lbs". So don't think too much about it. 90% of riders will be in the HD category. They retail about $999 but i can say the ride quality is amazing over the stock rear suspension. I had a 2016 RG and my 2013 with OEM air shocks rode much better that the 2016. The Legends are the best so far.

I have Legends Revo A’s once I had them dialed in they are amazing. Still riding a motorcycle but huge difference and they don’t bottom out unless I hit a sink hole. Pit on The comfort Axeo on the front. Still feel the road but have a lot more control of the bike
