09 Streetglide factory radio issue

My factory radio on my 09 Streetglide is starting the act up. The volume works for a few minutes then cuts out and will only come back on if you shut the radio off and turn it back on. It does have a Kicker amp and speakers for the fairing that were just installed last summer. I also checked the DTC and it came up with a B2017 FL speakers open. Is this a common radio failure or is it something that's caused from the Kicker amp setup? If it is a bad radio what are my options? Should I do a new factory radio or? Having hand controls is a must and I don't want something that looks like cheap garbage.

Only issues I am having on my 08 is I burnt a cd from my iTunes and being a digital copy should play fine but I get a lot of skipping at any speed. But it doesn't happen all the time just here and there.

No mojo its on cd. Burnt cd from my iTunes library. 08 only has cd and aux. I wonder if it has a balance issue.

I meant to say CD. It may not have burned correctly when you made it. I used to use Handbrake for burning CD's but don't need to burn them anymore.
Do other CD's play correctly?

Ok. All i done was burn directly from iTunes library via windows 8.1. Used same cd in my truck and there is no issues. Just on the bike. Think winter time I am going to upgrade the CD player while I have fairing apart doing bar upgrade.

I have an 09 with a similar configuration and I am having the same issues. I used to have to do the power on/off every now and then but it has progressively gotten worse. Then my ipod started playing out of only one speaker. Eventually, I had no sound at all. My mechanic did some troubleshooting and felt that my amp was the problem. Well, I went home and disconnected my amp and connected the speakers directly to the radio. Now I have sound again but the I'm back to the doing the power on/off on a regular basis.

There are after market options that allow you to keep your hand controls. Go to crutchfield.com, filter the radios that fit your bike for ones that include hand controls...

Check to see what version software your radio has loaded. The latest is V8.25 and is available for download from the HD website.
1)Turn your bike on and turn the volume the whole way down to mute, then turn the power off.
2)Hold the number's 1 & 2 button down on the radio while you turn the power back on.
3)When the HK boots up, you will have a software screen...hit number 4 and look at the center line. It should say V8.??
4)If it's not updated, download and burn (at slow speed) to disc, insert the disc in your player, go through steps 1 & 2 again, then you should hit number 5, I believe, to do the update form the CD.
See if that helps.

I'm going through issues with my newly installed Hogtunes on my 2009, cutting in and out, and came across this info last night...but Iron Cross Audio updated all my stuff when they rebuilt my radio from it shorting out in a storm a few years ago...back to the drawing board!
