1.20.3

Sure, let some one else be the guinea pig. LOL

I have not yet cause its winter or I would be right on it. I still have the last flawed update in my radio cause it actually worked better so I left it. I did not have the issues that caused it to be taken down.

Ha ha David,
not quite, by the time I got around to installing the last one it had been pulled, just wondering if there was any early feedback yet.
I'll give it a try next week, and let everyone know how it goes.

And you can go here to get updates for your GPS (premium 6.5" link): naviextras

I haven't looked at naviextras for a long time. There is finally an update there but considering the lack of quality of the 2012 database in the 2014 radio, I am not sure $149 is worth it.

The update includes a new map database

Thanks for posting this. I have been checking ever since they pulled the last update, but didn't see this one. I downloaded and installed it without any problems. Seems to be working fine, but I won't know for sure until I'm able to ride the bike in the spring.

Well I went for a 1200km ride this weekend (Australia) using the GPS for navigation I was getting a warning that some parts of the route may not have any navigation, ok so no worries I thought,.. until it turned out to be most of it!

And they want us to pay $149 for more of this crap, LOL

Sorry for the basic question, what' in the 880MB update on the quoted page, if the maps are an additional download (and cost)?

Updates and bug fixes for the radio system itself. This thing was buggier than a swamp when it first came out. The dealer GPS location updates are free though. I know, kinda sucky analogy but its Sunday morning. LOL

What ticks me off- My new 2017 has the SAME maps version as my 2014 did. In other words, HD doesn't even put the newer upgrade in the latest model.

They didn't have a problem upgrading the price on the new 2017 did they!

Updated during the week, out for a spin now. No problems, and no major improvements.

You know what I think is real BS? In this day and age of remote connectivity/access, bluetooth, wireless this and that, we still have to download an "update" to a memory holder, go plug it in to the bike, and do it all over again a few weeks later. When will it ever not need to be updated? Why couldn't they have put something in the infotainment system that would have allowed this to be done remotely? I am not a "techy", obviously, but I wonder if the system will ever be perfect, or if HD is working on a system that does not need fixes? Doing things right the first time has been long forgotten!

It will stop needing to be updated, once Harley abandons this current version of hardware, and no longer supports it. That's not a day you want to be in a hurry to experience. Anything computer related needs updates to fix bugs, and add functionality based on feedback. I agree that wifi connectivity right from the bike would be nice, so we don't have to mess with flash drives, but you gotta be more of a grateful realist when it comes to updates for technology. Imagine if hackers figure out a way to log on to your bike from their phone in a car riding next to you on the freeway, and they start messing with your volume, changing your music, and putting a D!ck pic on the screen of your navigation? Wouldn't you want Harley to be able to push a patch for that, without forcing you to gut the entire hardware system and spending thousands on some new system?

I think it would be way too expensive to implement Wi-fi into the Boom Box and Bluetooth can't handle it. 800MB+ files are a little big and the safest, easiest way to implement the upgrade is via USB. The dealers and H-D would be constantly getting calls with people having problems updating their Boom Box over Wi-fi due to connection issues, signal problems, etc. Now they only have to deal with calls about crappy updates that won't load or crash, Lol. The company for the GPS is iGO, based out of Hungary. Should have paid a little more and got Garmin or somebody with Free lifetime updates to do it. Doing things right the first time gave way to doing things cheap the first time a while ago :(

Meskimen's Law....(adopted by HD...)

"There is never time to do it right, but always time to do it over"

Granted H-D could have done much better, that said, I'm all for continuous improvement.
