Hi guys, just joined so hope no one minds me picking some brains straight up. I purchased a used 2010 SG last week, love it, but the radio is giving problems. The dealer is taking it back in a couple of days to fix it (free), but I would like to know what the problem is so I can be fore armed if I get a dodgy fix, or it happens again. The audio is hit and miss. Radio has worked a couple of times since I bought it, but it only comes on from start when it does work. Meaning...randomly I can turn the ignition (or Acc) on and all dash signals fire up, radio screen activates and goes to station settings, all functions work fine (CD, settings etc) BUT, no sound from the speakers. Other times I turn on and the radio works (ie, sound from the speakers), but only stays on for a couple of minutes then dead, even though the screen reads all ok. It doesn't stutter in and out of action which leads me to think it is not a loose wire, and it doesn't just come on when I am riding. Like I say ,hit and miss, it may work at ignition, but doesn't last more than a couple of minutes when it does. Any suggestions, Regards,

Welcome to the SGF.
Whats the age/condition of your battery? Do you keep her on a smart charger? Seen a few audio issues somewhat similar to yours on here, & when battery is replaced and/or properly charged, the issue is usually resolved.

Welcome to SGF! Since your dealer is fixing it, let them tell you their findings as there are several things that could cause your issues from a short to heat sink failure on back of radio, etc.

my 2009 sg
replaced radio twice , HK unit have a few problem
the front riser bolts hit the underneath of the radio shorting it out
& will take on water

have them replace it with a refurb unit then when it blows again install aftermarket unit
good luck

Took it back in last week, they had it for a couple of hours, told me it was fixed ("plug was put on back to front" (quote). Radio was working for a while then did the same thing again on the way home. It goes back in again on Wednesday, and they assure me it will be fixed(free of charge)
By the way, the battery was brand new at purchase, I watched them put it in. The heat sink suggestion seems to have some merit, but like I say, it is very random.
