2014 Infotainment Tutorial

I am wondering if there is an option to display something besides the clock on the lower left corner of the infotainment screen. I know that while in the GPS mode you can change that display but I am wondering about options available while the screen is NOT IN THE GPS MODE. Specifically, I would like to display the temperature instead. Does anyone know if options beside the clock are available for that display and how you access the menu needed to change that display if there is choice?

Look I hate to be negative but..................after 4 days with the new infotainment system (6.5) I will say that this is the LEAST intuitive system I have ever used. I have had been using GPS since it was available to the aviation community and in my cars for almost 15 years. I'm a geek, spent my career in the electronics business and am almost always the first guy to get the new stuff.......I usually can do these things in my sleep and even after spending the weekend reading the manuals, watching the videos and playing with the unit a little it is about on par with the functionality (interface wise) of the Nav I had in my 2000 Mercedes Benz.......and IMO it was a POS.......compared to using a Garmin, this thing is Crazy, it's like Harley hired the engineers at Jaguar to design the most complicated and inefficient system known to man..........OK I feel better now, Rant Off!!

PS......I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE riding the bike.......I may just resort to finding a good mount for my iPhone 6+ and using the Garmin App or Google maps to navigate when riding this awesome Ride!!!!

paul65k- Many of us have mentioned the shortcomings of the Infotainment system as have others on several forums. Bottom line is, It is what it is and we either live with it and its slow to market firmware updates or-like many have, they start modifying components. You can get awesome sound out of this system but you have to spend some $$$$. I chose NOT to do that because for me personally, music is not important once I get on this fabulous machine!
I saw this last year on another forum . . . .
This GPS firmware is from iGo and is a software package sold wholesale by NNG Software Developing and Commercial LLC. Based in Budapest, Hungary. It is offered to the Automotive industry. The hardware/software combo is sold as “white box” to various automotive companies who in turn put their own brand on everything after specifying what features they want. This “white box” marketing model is used in many industries nowadays.
Ford was using a version of this and had a painful problems with their Lincoln MKZ series a couple of years ago and apparently had to replace the radio heads.
I love the bike, its look and handling. The radio was an important hook for me but luckily I got over it, now I just enjoy ride! ;)

UPDATE: I broke down and bought the 250w J&M system . . . glad I did!!!

So, still I ask, is anyone aware of any other options available for the clock display (Not the GPS screen, asking about the media screen) at the lower left corner of the screen and how do you change it if there are other options?

I agree, why would someone design something so complicated to use!

Because the more options you add, the more complicated it becomes. People want and will pay for "features". Building an intuitive UI on something that you have to be able to navigate with a thumb stick while riding down the road at speed is no easy task.

Give it time. Feedback to the company is going to be the key here. Because it is a display and multiple interfaces, it really can look or do just about anything. The trick is getting enough people to get the ear of the manufacturer to do something about it.

Actually- HD didn't design the software in the Boombox. It was an off the shelf foreign package that is customizable. Harley unfortunately didn't do much themselves apparently. Ford and Audi are others that used this as well. The Lincoln vehicles had so much trouble with it that they changed to a different vendor after 2012-13 model years I'm told. There was a news article about irate Lincoln owners a few years back and FoMoCo back peddling to fix the problem.
