Wondering if anyone has any experience with the
SE 259E cam. I'm looking at a bike that has one and wondering if it's suited for an around town cruiser.
Thanks
fb

What else does it have? Wouldn't know, will find out tomorrow when I pick mine up. The kit that I had put in has the 259 cams in it.

Port matched and polished .060 milled heads, se valve springs, perfect fit push rods, high flow injectors and 58 mm throttle body. It's in a dyna. Not sure if it's a higher rpm oriented cam and how well it would be suited to an around town cruiser.

My 120ST has the SE259E cams.... they are not too radical and overall pretty good... pulls good and hard from the jump

Thanks, Spazz..........Speaking of pulling hard from the jump. How's the knee? You playing any hopscotch yet?

I think it is a higher rpm cam, but it isn't crazy. It is ok around town. And it really has some zip off the line.
It doesn't sputter or ride rough at low speeds, if that is what you're worried about.

Mandrew,
Yes that was a concern I had.

I run that cam in my 103 and it isn't bad it is definitely a higher rpm cam. As long as you have had some head work and a maybe a .030 head gasket to up your compression a bit from stock. As for Spazz it's a nice cam for all that displacement he has. I think you will be happy with it. For the record without head work and thinner gasket it would be a bad choice for all the others that may be thinking about it.

Great insight BaggerJay.... every bit of info helps...

I am running the SE259E and adj. push rods in my 14' SGS with no head work or gasket change and a SE programmer and mine does excellent!! It runs great for me, around town, back country cruising, interstate....... I love it! Has a really nice choppy thump to it. Not over radical but really nice sounding. Now I DO have to run the premium in it or it will ping a lil but with good gas it runs excellent and gets an average of 45-48 mpg. I have let a few of my Hog buddies take it for a spin and they all have been impressed by it and I have had many compliments on the sound of it! Just my personal experience brother :)

PS I do believe it makes quite a bit of difference if it is tuned pretty nicely. I rode about 10K miles before it started to turn the pipes dark.
