I know many consider the air suspension on the SG not very. But is it normal for the system to lose/leak completely until it won't read on a gauge?
Thanks for any input

Not normal. Sounds like your air supply tubing system needs to be inspected.
First make sure the valve stem core is tight.
Another common cause of leakage is where the tubing inserts into the 90* fitting that mates to the shock. Release and remove the air line from the fitting. Cut the air line back about 1/2" and reinsert. Do both shocks.

Would this be considered a warrantied item? I'd prefer a dealer be forced to do any modifications like this. My bike is under it's factory 2 year warranty until Christmas Eve.

I would certainly think it would be a warranty item. Call it to your dealers attention.

don't hold your breath on the dealer fixing that under warranty. My shocks were losing air, I had a post on this site talking about it. It seams there is no set number on how mush air loss is considered not normal. I was told they all lose air and to basically live with it or buy the non air shocks. The dealer had my bike for 5 days and determined losing 5 lbs in 5 days is normal. I was pissed and responded for a $23K bike I think ZERO lbs loss should be normal. Bottom line is they did nothing for me, but thanks to this forum for telling me to cut the ends of the air back and make sure the cut is 90 degrees. I did that and I no longer lose air.

Glad you were able to fix the air system.
One thing to consider when checking the air shocks is the ambient air temperature. 40lbs shock pressure yesterday when it was 85* might only read 36lbs this morning when it's 59*. This could give the false impression that the system is losing air. Just like car tires.

My 03 Road King has not dropped a lb of air in the past 10 years.......IMO leakage is not normal and you should not need to "Live with it"............it also sounds like you need to find another dealer.......Just sayin'

I have an appointment on Friday. I will let you know how they "deal" with me. I am thinking I will be getting the "brush off".

Worst case you pay to have them install new air lines and fittings. Three feet of plastic tubing, two plastic 90* elbows into the shocks, and a new Schroeder valve. My guess is less than $10 in parts (which really means $20) and 15 minutes labor. If you do that ask them if they stand behind their work and will they fix it if it still leaks.

You really think they will(and can) make me pay if the STOCK, unbasterdized system leaks?

If all the air leaks out in fast fashion, like saying it won't hold air at all then they should fix it under warranty. If you loose a couple of pounds a week they might consider that normal. If you won't accept that then you have the option of filing a case with HD or paying to have them install new components. Actually it's very easy to do. Most time the leakage is at the 90* elbow going into the shock. Have them change plastic elbows.
