I have a 2014 street glide special. I LOVE to listen to my music and want to upgrade my front speakers, add amp, and rear speakers(6x9). I have been told numerous set ups to get and also heard different mis-match systems that sound great but some a lil too much I'm not try to win a trophy. I have heard the RF system at a HD dealership but not on a actual motorcycle. I have heard D&D speakers with JL MX500/4 sounds awesome but problems with the D&D speakers. Any GOOD suggestion on a great sounding set up? I like clear crisp sound that can be heard pounding on the hiways.

Search is your friend! Also, opinions will be from one end to the other. Best thing to do is go to a gathering like bike week, biketoberfest, sturgis etc..... all venders are there, pick what you like. Usually at a deep discount of 20-25% off.

I just upgraded my system with Sony AX7000 head unit plus Fosgate 2 x 6.5" front speakers & 2 x 6x9" saddlebags speakers. That'll will make your bike sound very clear and has decent bass. I totally recommend that setup. Sony AX7000 has built-in 400watt amp so you don't need additional amp, that is a great thing and less money.

A buddy of mine upgraded his CVO with J&M 6 x 6.5" speakers and 700watt amp, it's loud and clear but no bass and he is not happy about it after paying so much money for it. 6x9" speakers are a must for some bass, if you want more bass, 8" woofers in saddlebags (then you lose storage spaces) or tour pak. But like someone mentioned when you are out of parking lot or garage, more than 70% of clear/loud/bass are no longer heard, especially if you have aftermarket exhaust. I have heard some bikes with bigger amps flying down the road/freeway and I can hear the music but almost ZERO bass unless they have 10/12" woofer in their tour pak, even those with 8" woofers in saddlebags cannot produce decent bass flying down the freeway.

Do your homework and search for a system you will be happy with as you will sink some decent coins for the system. Like everything else, do it once and be done with.

Good luck and keep us posted on which system you decided to go with please!

@BlkDragon, I heard the fosgate front speakers and amp in a HD dealership and the manager actually recommended it to me said he pushed to sell that more then the Boom II. My omly thing never heard that system on a bike around my area most guys are going with the D&D speaker but some have had problems with them and others no problems. Bass in not a must for me i think the 6x9 will put out enough bass for the clear surround sound i want plus i was also going to add the D&D super tweeter in the front fairing thinking that will give more output(louder on the road). A brother of mine has some and we can hear his music on the hiway rolling but of course he has four 6x9 in the back and 2 of them are 5 way pioneers. I do alot of research i mean alot and as always you read good and bad so i decided to see what other fellow SG riders are installing. Thanks really appreciate your input.

I am so amazed with how loud and clear sound coming out of Fosgate 6.5" speakers. Default fader position is right in the middle and I adjusted to rear speakers more and now the bike sound very good from where my seating position. I rode to a Biketober Fest last night with my buddy and even we were on the freeway with road noise, our semi loud exhausts wife & I were able to hear the music and of course because sound had to be turned up 85% vehicles around us were looking (could be that we look really cool...LOL!) and when I get closer to my buddy his girlfriend will rock along with us so she can hear the music....I am just trying to make sure I am not relaying wrong message to anyone to think the clear sound you hear while stand still/parking lot/garage will follow on the freeway.

Sounds like you are on the right track searching so keep at it and you'll be happy with the system you get after hard work you put into your sound system.

Not sure what your budget is but there are lots of systems out there. I have the Soundz bagger audio and this system rocks with bass and is very clear. Black dragon has listened to my system before in person. They make a plug and play system but you will need to flash your radio.

@TomA, I'll research the Soundz system never heard of it may not remember if i did. Thinking about changing HU to the Sony 7000 still research and getting suggestions and advice from fellow bikers. Thanks for the suggetion

Haven't changed my head unit and no plans in the future. Nobody makes a new head unit with that much difference to change out to yet. Go to Reno bagger audio and Spazz is a member here he sells these systems maybe he can help out.
