Bike dies at idle

What's up guys -

I just bought a 2007 Street Glide last weekend and have put about 400 miles on it. Today, I started it up and I heard the started click twice (one after another click). I released the start button and a few seconds later tried again and it started up like normal. I ride for about 5 miles when I come to a red light so I start downshifting until first gear until I pull in the clutch as I am about to die and the bike dies as soon as I do. I start the bike up at the light again and it starts and idles as is should. I ride the bike a couple miles and it does the same thing as I come to another red light but the rpms slowly drop from 1k to 900 800 700 600 500 until it dies (this takes just a couple seconds).

I ride it through the mountains right after this which is a 50 mile ride and it performs excellent until I get to the top of the mountain and pull in the clutch to make a u-turn to go back down the mountain and it craps out. I started it back up and it idles and performs as it should all the way back home.

Any ideas on what it could be? The battery needs to be replaced since the start is a bit slow but I am not sure if the dead battery is tied in with the same issue I am having with the bike dying. Any help is appreciated!

Check your ground connections, make sure they are all tight. Maybe even pull them apart and sand/brush them to make sure it's clean. You can also try spraying some carb cleaner at the iac just inside the throttle body intake to make sure that is clean, that iac gave me trouble on my Switchback.

I had that same problem with an 08 Fatboy the dealership had to re-flash the ECM.

I will definitely check those things out, thanks!

Check your battery. Harley's alternator doesn't provide power to the bike, only for charging the battery. If the battery is dying, so will the bike.

Update:

I replaced the battery but the problem continues. It no longer dies at idle but more when I go from a consistent throttle to full throttle (passing a car). It dies and turns over but won't start, but usually if I unplug the battery and plug it back in it starts back up. The other times during the week I will ride it with no problems, take it home. Then try to start it an hour later and it turns over but won't start.

Why would the bike shut down after giving it full throttle on two different occasions? Both times were random, the bike performs normally most of the time.

That may be low fuel pressure, maybe a partially blocked fuel filter.

What Hulkss said. The fuel pump is in the tank and can be a bear to remove....or so I've heard. A buddy of mine had one go out and replaced himself.....
