I have a 2015 Street Glide Special with the 6.5 Infotainment system. It has bluetooth capability but I haven't used it yet. I would eventually like to get bluetooth headphones with microphone so I can listen to audio, make phone calls, etc. Any recommendations on available headsets?

Sorry to disappoint you on your question but there is no such luck......there are several threads on this same question all over Internet......read all about it...

Here is a recent one LINK

I added a bluetooth transmitter & ear buds to my SGS for 35 bucks (I already had the ear buds). I was not interested in being able to talk back to the system, just hearing all of the audio from the Boom. My transmitter is USB powered, so it turns on & off with the bike, no charging required! I have my phone paired to the radio, also, so when someone calls, I can see who it is on the screen (and hear them if they say something) but I can't reply. Everybody that knows me knows that if I pick up the phone & don't say anything, I'm on the bike. If it's an urgent message, they just say what they have to say & I can pull over & call them back if I need to. As a bonus, my transmitter will pair with 2 devices, so my passenger can listen too!

weeT....ok, you got my attention.....share what you have and how you have it configured.....thanks!

I just want to listen to radio via Bluetooth.....I don't care for phone and all other B.S.

Dragon - I have this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UEGDDAY/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza plugged in to my USB port in the glovebox (USB for power to the transmitter). I had some old 3.5mm extension cables lying around & soldered 1 female end (about an 8"-10" piece) into the cable from the radio to the plug (280 I believe) inside the fairing. It's soldered to the front headphone wires. I drilled a hole in the back of the glovebox to run the other extension, which is 3.5mm male-to male, to the transmitter for the audio source. This gives me the ability to disconnect it when I need to take the front off of the fairing. Go to settings & set the outputs (I set all of them) of the Boom to headsets instead of speakers. That's about it...30 minute project on the cheap.

After getting that working, I decided I wanted to be able to listen to music from a USB stick, in addition to the radio, so I got a tiny 4-port usb hub, plugged the transmitter into 1 port & the music stick into another port & I was done. The transmitter, hub and USB music stick are all in the glovebox and can be unplugged & stored in a safe place (or in your pocket) if you are parked somewhere where you are afraid of someone stealing them.

If you are not comfortable with soldering, I have seen somewhere where someone sells a 7 pin to 3.5mm adaptor, but I can't remember where I saw it. Since you have a Street Glide, you would have to buy the $70.00 cable from HD that plugs into the 280 plug & gives you the factory 7 pin headset plug. I didn't want to spend the $70+ for the cable and adaptor so I just soldered into the existing wires!! Another option would be to buy the mating plug to the 280 plug & just pin it out to the 3.5mm female jack. I didn't want to go to that much trouble!

OK....I don't know I understand quite well on how you have it configured....so that Bluetooth transmitter will not pair up to any Bluetooth headsets? I need something that I can connect to or pair to OEM radio so I can listen to radio through Bluetooth headset.....I don't want to cut/solder anything to OEM setup, just want something I can buy plug into OEM system and listen to radio/music through Bluetooth headset while riding.

Sorry, man. The 3 "hacks" I listed above are the easiest & cheapest ways to get what you're looking for. And yes, that transmitter will pair with any stereo Bluetooth headset.

If you're ever in the DFW area on your bike, give me a shout & I'll fix you up!!

The HD Bluetooth is receive only, it will not transmit. If paired to your phone, it will play music, it will give an audible ring for an incoming call, it will dispay the caller ID on the HD display unit, it will display a text notification.
If you want music, phone calls or voice activated text message, you will need a headset that pairs directly to your phone.

Dude.....I must make a trip out to DFW for sure now.......LOL!

Thanks brother!

I use a Sena SMH10 for headset to my phone. Then i put a ipod touch or you could use an old iphone in my boom. Connect to your primary iphone with hot spot to ipod wifi. Then you can stream music enjoy your boom and have a great headset if you need to make a phone call. YOu can pick up a old iphone for $50.
