I know this has been asked in the past but if you don't mind I'll ask again! I have 2006 StreetGlide that has 27k on it what is the rule of thumb as to when I should think about replacing my tensioners.
Regular maintence is perfromed and no engine mods have been done on the bike!

thanks in advance

Hi Rick, and welcome.

Just talked to the Mech's at my dealership. They recommended on bikes 2006 and older 25k check out!
On new than 2006 check at 60k. That is from their experience not the disposition of the MOCO. These are good guys and friends of mine so I trust their word.

Ranger Rick, welcome! There was a redesign of the tensioner as I recall. A friend of mine "upgraded" his bike with a later model part last summer.

I had a 2004 FXDWGI that I put cams in at about 25K. The tensioner shoes looked about half worn so I replaced them at that point. I would say to check them at 25K. The outside one is easily seen with just the cover off. The inner one will require a small mirror on a stick and a flashlight but can be checked without further disassembly. On the other hand, it's a good time to upgrade cams, bearings, lifters and pushrods. ;)
