What intake is recommended? and what tuner do I need? Some are using NightRider FL-Vied-10 (i have no idea what this is) others are using Power Commanders. I'm confused when it comes to the programming part

Any help is appreciated.

Congrats on your new exhaust system...you're going to be extremely happy with it. As for air cleaners, what is the model year of the bike it will be going on? This will help determine which ones would be a good companion with the CFR / Power Dual set-up.

As for tuners, we have a lot of folks that go with either the Dynojet Power Vision or the Dynojet Power Commander V. Both are great performing tuners but the Power Vision will provide you with a lot of added 'bells & whistles' that you may find useful over the Power Commander V.

If you have a 2014 model, you may also want to consider the Vance & Hines Fuelpak FP3. It's a pretty neat new system that they just released.

Hopefully this helps!!

No problem, glad to help!!

In regards to Air Cleaners, we have had a good number of folks riding '14 touring models that have gone with RC Components new TRUFLO Air Cleaners as well as the Zipper's MaxFlow Air Cleaner so I have heard good things about both of these. Below are links to all of the TRUFLO Air Cleaners that we carry along with a link to the MaxFlow Air Cleaner.

In regards to the FP3, this would indeed be used in place of a Power Commander V or Power Vision.

CousinKAP, I am running the V&H Power Duals, Monster Ovals, Fuelpak FP3 with NessBig Sucker breather. It was a fairly straight forward install. The FP3 was a piece of cake. Did just like their video shows. Been running it in autotune mode for 130 miles and will probably reflash after a ride this coming weekend. So far very pleased with the results.

Awesome Gator,

I am leaning towards the FP3 but my concern is the CFRs. I heard they were trouble to tune, so I'm not sure how an autotuner would be able to handle it. Are you scraping your power duals?

CousinKAP, I just ordered a similar set up for my '13 SG. I went with the FuelPak. Went to V&H website to get the tune...didn't have CFR's as an option on the site yet. One of their tech's emailed me with a map for my particuar set up by the end of the day! If all you plan on doing is ac and exhaust, a FuelPak is an inexpensive way to get the proper tune. If you plan on doing any other motor work I would look into the Power Commander 5. More versatility but, I believe it requires a Dyno run(spending more $$$$).

I also went with a RSD ac, just love the looks and it's supplied with a K&N filter. I don't think you can really go wrong with any air cleaner. Get whatever you think looks the best on your ride!

jealous of the headers I didn't know existed and jealous of the drilled and fluted slip ons. It looks and sounds awesome.

Thank you, sir! And to answer your question from PM...I have not had any issues with ground clearance. I had a friend follow me through some twisties and he said it was close, but the foot boards are scrapping without any issues at the stern. The "Tail of the Dragon" will be the true test in July.

Have you gotten your stuff installed yet? What air cleaner and tuner did you decide to go with?

thats awesome that it's all working out. I'm going to attempt installing my setup tonight. Let me know when you head to the tail of the dragon. I'm in ATL.

CousinKap I'm sure your enjoying them CFR's!

Let me throw this at IronAcers - current setup Rhinehart 4" full exhaust on my 12 flhx -SE air cleaner with SE tuner. Have a set of CFR's ready to go & understand I need a new header setup. Would I need the PC V for the best tune or can I use my current hardware? Any info would be great or if anyone wants to chime in!

Hi Major91 and thanks for the shout out...I'm more than happy to throw in my 2 cents on this topic.

You are indeed correct that you would not be able to install the CFRs on the headers from your Rinehart 4" full system simply because the header diameter on the Rinehart full system is larger than the 1-3/4" headers that the CFRs are designed to work with. We have a lot of folks who pair their CFRs with Vance & Hines Dresser Duals and I have yet to hear one negative comment regarding this set-up.

As for tuners, from conversations I have had with Cary Faas (owner of CFR) he does not particularly care for the Screamin' Eagle tuner but I'm not completely sure as to the specifics as to why he does not recommend this system with his slip-ons. With that, my assumption would be that regardless of the tuner used, the most important thing is that the air:fuel ratio is adjusted properly so that the bike will not run too lean (aka: hot) because if the bike runs too lean you run a very high risk of the chrome discoloring over time simply because it is getting to hot. Unfortunately, since this discoloration is specifically caused by a tuning issue and not a chrome defect, it would not be something a warranty would cover. In addition, having this air:fuel ratio accurately adjusted, this will certainly aid in performance simply because the motor is performing as it was designed to do.

We've had the good fortune of getting a lot of folks set-up with CFR slip-ons throughout the years....while some of these folks have decided to take a chance and not have the bike re-tuned, some go with the Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner and are happy with it but I would say the majority of the folks we have with have chosen to go with either the Dynojet Power Commander V or Dynojet Power Vision. In addition, a good number of folks choose to invest in the ThunderMax Autotune System which in my opinion is the best system on the market but it is a little 'salty' in terms of cost but given what it does, it is more than worth the investment.

Again, regardless of what tuner you ultimately choose to go with, the most important thing is to make sure that the 'tune' loaded onto the module properly sets the air:fuel ratio to 1) provide the best performance possible and 2) does not cause the bike to run too lean (aka: hot). I think everyone who owns a Harley can agree that these are expensive, sophisticated machines and for the investments we put into them, the accessories we put on them should only enhance their performance and value, not hinder it.

Hopefully this helps answer your question but certainly feel free to let me know if others come up.
