EQ change when bike is started

Not sure of this is a problem or normal. The new Hogtunes setup sounds really good with the bike shut off...I mean REALLY good. When you start the engine, the EQ mix changes. Seems like some of the bass drops out and more midrange comes in. It still sounds good, but not as good as it sounds parked.

Just starting the engine does this. It did the same thing before adding the Hogtunes setup. Is this the sort of thing that the radio software updates address? I haven't done an update on it. It's running whatever the factory installed.

Sounds like the EQ curve needs to be flattened with a flash to the HU.. the DSP is messing it Also... turn off your AVC ( Automatic Volume Control ). Not sure what you have as far as equipment ( amps ) but normally, when you have an aftermarket amp hooked up... you need to address the DSP/EQ curve with a flash or magic box to flatten the curve to get you the best signal possible.

Is that just a software update that I can do myself of a dealer thing. It did the same thing without the amp. I'm afraid the dealer isn't going to even know what I'm talking about if I ask them to to so this. I've tried playing with the speed volume, but that only has an effect when you start moving. This is happening as soon as you start the engine.

What's this magic box you speak of?

It's a flash that is done via Digital Technician at HD. There are certain parameters that are set within the system by HD, depending on what you have installed and how you want it to work. hogtunes ( no personal experience ) should have instructions on how to 'set up' your system for their products. Not every system is set up the same way as each configuration will perform differently.

It is a very vague topic, but seems to be progressing and clearing up over time to a degree.

I would contact Hogtunes and ask them what flash configuration is recommended for their speakers and amp....

I have aftermarket components and a specific flash configuration for my system.... not all flashes are the same and not all work the same from system to system... so ti's best to find out from HogTunes.

As far as the magic box,,, CycleSounds sells them.... they work well from what I have been told....

I have not verified myself but have read that the bike uses a different EQ curve when the bike is off vs. running. You can probably verify that by going to the diagnostics and see the EQ file being used in each instance. Not that this matters or will solve anything, but I'm the type that likes to know what is going on so just sharing.

This sounds like what's going on. There is no flash requirement with Hogtunes. This EQ thing was going on before I installed Hogtunes. It was actually much worse prior to installing Hogtunes. I probably just need to have the dealer set the engine on profile the same as the engine off profile.
