Hey Guys, I bought a 2007 SG this year and I find that it rides like crap with 10-15 lbs. in the rear shocks I feel like it is bottoming out when I hit small bumps in the road. Last night I took the shocks off and when I tried to compress or extend them it seems as though it is almost frozen. I can't move them at all. There is no travel at all. Even when they were on the bike I couldn't even get them to bounce by pushing down on the back of the suspension. Maybe I'm just trying to compare them to regular shocks like what would be on a car. I've never had air shocks so I have nothing to go by.

What it the best way to test air shocks to see why these seem to be not working?

Thanks, Tom

Well I ended up taking one of the shocks to my local Harley dealer and the shop guy said it was a bent piston shaft and took it into the shop and put it in a press to verify and sure enough it was bad. My guess is that the last owner had a passenger and maybe loaded tour pack and didn't adjust the air in the shocks for the load and ran over a hell of a pothole and bottomed out hard and bent the pistons.??? Who knows? So I ordered a pair of HD premium ride hand adjustable shocks # 54000091

OK turns out the HD premium shocks are not for my 2007, so I went with the Progressive 944's and wow what a difference. I love them.

I was told he gets good reviews with them so I will be trying them out.
