I thought this needed to be passed on. If you can't change your songs when using your flash drive hooked to USB this needs to happen it works worked for me.

Then make sure to do this

Thanks for posting. I did not know the radio could be technically reset.

I am unsure if this affects any 'custom' settings ( I.E....Custom flash for audio) some may have (like myself)... so be aware if you do.

Did you lose any presets or time settings when you did this? May ask HD for mor info ( we can bet how that will go... lol )

This is sooo funny that you posted this. Yesterday evening the wife and I jumped on the bike to go eat. As we are riding I noticed my 2015 SG 4.3 radio would not change songs from the hand control. It was starting to really bug me. I'm going to try this to see if it clears it. I thought it maybe had something to do with leaving the flash drive hooked up al the time. Thanks for posting.

I might reset mine. my 6.5 box has started this thing of not showing the details, title, etc of the first song it plays after being turned on. Weird issue.

Have also noticed it won't read any more than 6454 songs off the flash drive. It is a 64GB flash drive with only around 32GB of songs. Probably a system limitation, not a resettable quirk.

I doubt it... I leave my flashdrive in all the time, except when I upload new songs... I bet when you out today, it's fine. Every now and then, I will have 'glitches' where I need to shut it down and wait a minute... then turn it back on and all is fine... not too often though... prolly 3 times over 14 months

I agree, I leave my USB in all the time and I am always changing/adding/deleting music files, several hundred at a time. I think a point to remember is the Boombox sorts your music every time the bike is started by playlist, artist, album, song and genre as well as the associated album cover art work with it. this is done to allow you to use all the search features in the boom box. If you give boombox a large media list on USB (i would say a 1000 or more songs) it will take a little time for the sorting process. If your individual song file from the original source does not contain a music I.D. such as artist, album, title, genre it will be "unknown" and will populate your boombox display as such. I have noticed Boombox does much better at managing file of the same type on USB (mp3,mp4,mp5 and so on.) with all the music tags. I have more than 17, 000 song on my PC from all kinds of sources I collected over the past 12 years or so. Some work well with boombox (playback quality) and some dont.

I'll try it again this morning to see if it was a glitch. What are the advantages of using the flash drives over using an iPod? Also what program on the computer are all of you using to download songs and add them to your flash drive? I have been using Frostwire, but I'm sure there is something better out there.

Cajun, I have deployed 3 times to Iraq and afghanistan, our only form of personal entertainment was a laptop and a portable hard drive. It was a common practice to share portable hard drives with others and download their music and movies. it doesnt take long to to acquire 250 gigs of music and movies in that environment, alot duplicates and crap, but it is way too large to try and clean for my patience. not to mention my two metal head teenagers (now grown) amassed a collection to my 500g portable hard drive...lol

I dont think there is a better program than another for this use, but I have found that boombox likes music with all the I.D. tags, boombox wants to sort and categorize your music, without the info present is seems to always search for it during each power on, thus, the larger the music file, the longer the search. I think during the search and setup process other features may not be available until complete, such as next song or genre search. MP3 is the advertised format in the manual, a typical microsoft media player will handle that for you and it will easily drag and drop to a USB with a large file size. I create playlists on my ms media player, then drop to usb all at once.

IPOD files, today WAC, AAC, MP3, once they hit your player they are generic and universal in play back and can be shared across Media player and Itune player

Makes sense. Thank you for your service.

Well I tried it again this morning. Still the same problem. Will not change songs with finger controls. I'm guessing after I do the reset I will need to go download the latest update and run that since the radio will probably go back to original version?

So I did not need to reset the radio. It wouldn't go into a reset mode anyway. This is what I figured out. At some point while cleaning bike or messing with the radio I changed one setting and that's why it would not go to next song. Go to radio menu, if your first button says presets then it won't shift thru the songs on the flash drive. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1429374203.472225.jpgin the menu, press the button next to menu so that it says "seek" and then it all works. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1429374276.179293.jpg

Im glad it worked out. For me, Boombox took some time to figure out. I went the first month I bought the bike with with the dam navigation audible update interrupting music play because I couldn't figure out how to turn it off...lol

No I didn't lose anything. Working great.

Well I got off my butt and picked up a 16G thumb drive and loaded it up with a bunch of tunes I was using my iPhone a lot but now after using this thumb drive I'm hooked best thing since sliced bread I love it I have it set to shuffle and the radio dose its thing and I never have to hear the same song twice on a long ride I can scroll through the play list and pick a song I want to hear or toggle to the next song I know this is old news to most of you guys but for me its seams like the more I play around with the features on this bike the happier I am :)

Glad you figured it out, "scan" will not allow finger controls but "seek" will. It's not very clear in the manual

Hey all, just wanted to check - I'm having same issue on my '17 CVO, but wasn't clear what impacts there would be for hitting the pre-calibration reset (or if that's a bad idea, and I should just let the dealer sort it out)?
