Question for you guys. Went for a ride today with the wife (not braggin but it was 74 degrees) and after about 30 miles she was complaining about the heat coming off the bike. So I am thinking I need to ditch the stock head pipes and lose the cat. My question is, are any of you guys running ceramic coated pipes? I have been told they run a lot cooler and was wondering if they are worth the extra money.

This is what I did, I put Vance and Hines true duals pipes and mufflers with cat. in the mufflers but, the one thing that I did different was that I wrapped the dual pipes with heat shield wraps under the chrome shields and my pipes stay pretty cool and I live in San Diego so, it gets nice and warm here too so, for me it works just great!

Gutting the cat alone will make a huge difference. Do a stage 1 and have your dealer do a simple download to make it run a little richer and that will help more. This would be the cheapest route if you are not interested in a tuner.

I know Mojo is running the ceramic pipes and he should chime in here soon.

I agree with buckshot85, that would be the cheapest way!

Thanks TomA- Yes I have the Rush True Duals with inside AND outside Ceramic coating and NO CAT. I have zero heat issues and am very impressed with them. Another benefit is no yellowed pipe discoloration.

Thanks for all the info. I am leaning towards the Rush or Fuel Moto pipes. A friend of mine just put some Fuel Moto stuff on his Road King and said the customer service was excellent. Just waiting for the Tax Return!!!

He wasn't lying, Jamie and the boys at Fuel Moto have a stellar reputation in the MC community. I DO like my Rush exhaust system though.

Got everything installed but now I have an exhaust leak at the front cylinder. I was advised by a friend to try the OEM style tapered gaskets instead of the flat ones that came with the pipe. What do you guys think? Anybody else have a problem with the flat gaskets?

Use the OEM tapered Gaskets. There is a tool #788 from Jim's to install them properly.

Cool thanks. Called the local dealer and the parts guy said they use the tapered ones for everything they install. Looks like I am off to the dealer....

OEM gaskets worked like a charm. Here are some before and after pics.
