Hello there! New guy here. I just traded in my 12' Road Glide Custom for a 17' Street Glide Special. And I'm very happy. I figure I'd start off here with a good tip for you Street Glide guys.
I have the Gerber heated gear; very good gear by the way. It comes with a controller that plugs into the bike (for power) and the clothes plug into the controller. I have the two knob controller, one for the gloves and one for the body (jacket & pants).
Well, the controller is said to either clip on your belt or placed in your pocket. Either options both suck. You're wearing a jacket over your pants so trying to adjust the controller is near impossible. Same goes for in the pocket. And they will probably get turned up or down by accident there.
So I took the controller, removed the belt clip, placed a strong magnet or two to the rear of the controller case and wrapped the case with black electrical tape.
Now you hop on the bike, plug into the bike, and place the heating controller on the gas tank right in front of you. I also labeled each knob, G for gloves and V for vest. At a glance I can turn down or up either body part like a gentleman. When I get off the bike just pick up the controller and place it in your pocket.
You won't scrape the paint because of the tape, and it sticks to your bike in one second where it is convenient for you.
