I did my first old change on my 2015 SGS. This is my first Harley. I've had dozens of other bikes, but at 53 it was time to grow up. I've changed oil on cars and motorcycles thousands of times and I brainfaded. Must have had my mind on something else. I removed the hex plug that says "DO NOT REMOVE". Before I realized my mistake, it had drained out. I also realized it was engine oil! I drained the remaining oil from the oil drain plug. Please tell me I didn't mess something up. What do I do next??? Thanks

Replace plug. Remove the oil drain plug that you're supposed to- the one next to it. Drain remaining oil, if any. Replace O ring on plug, reinstall plug. Fill with correct amount of oil.

Cool, thanks. I did that and it seems fine. So what's the hex plug for then, why does it drain the same oil. What's its purpose?? Why throw that fear statement "DO NOT REMOVE" out there. Just curious..

It's not the tranny drain plug. That's on the other side of the pan. This hex plug is right next to the oil drain plug, and engine oil drained from it, causing there to be very minimal oil from the oil drain plug when I realized my mistake.

Pipe plug?? That drains the same motor oil as the oil drain plug?? And they say "Do Not Remove"? I don't get it...

I think that I've read that port can be used for a sender for an oil temp gauge. Normally no need to take it out whatsoever.

Yep! It's an unnecessary extra hole in the pan, that is a second access to motor oil, that has no f'ing purpose whatever!...and they tell you "Do Not Remove". What a joke.

Welcome to the Club. I did it on my first change as well. As noted, it is a tapered pipe plug for pressure sensor. My understanding was that because it was tapered it is very sensitive to placement and should not be removed multiple times.
