I've installed a for point dock today and I cannot get one of the cam locks on one side of the rack to close and lock. I appreciate if anyone has any suggestions.

Thank you,
Chris

Loosen the docking fastening bolts, lock the cams then re-tighten.
The mount moves slightly for a better fit.

I had the same problem. What I did was look close to see exactly where the bind is. Get one side set so I could gently pull out on the opposite side. I worked slow and easy so I wouldn't pop it out to scratch anything. There is a small edge on both sides of the bushing. That's where I was getting hung up. It slipped to where I needed it then push down. The slots under the lever locks had to be exactly over the top of the bushing to set correctly. There is a small edge on thedes of the bushing. That's where I was getting hung up. I pushed down and pulled up on the locks and they clicked in.

Keep in mind....the 4 little black "rollers" or cams are not perfectly round & need to be manipulated & positioned for proper alignment...

Had the same problem. I did as OldMike suggested. I loosened all bolts holding docking system to the bike ( loosen just enough to have slack or play in it) then attached the rack and passenger backrest so that everything was clicked in and then re tightened the docking system so that it is now all aligned together. This made it easier to take the on / off.

Will have to try that.. My rack went on so hard and tight.. Doubtful I'll get it off.. Lol.. Least it won't get stolen

The Rollers are in fact not ROUND, but more OVAL. There are 2 marks on each of the black rollers 90 degrees from each other ( OEM hardware ) one line in the vertical position will give you a tight fit and then if you rotate the other line to the vertical, it will give you a loose fit...

Make sure you have them all oriented the same way and all in the same position to get the proper fit for either loose or tight. If they are not, you will get a tight fit on one side and loose on the other making you think something is not correct....

Thanx spazz.... Sounds exactly like what I encountered..

WHAT! I never knew that . . . . Thanks, that's good to know!!!

Thanks everyone for the info. Iv'e got three locked now and one that's stubborn on the rack. It's tight although the cam lever just won't budge enough to lock. Any other suggestons?

Ensure you have the rack fully seated on the shocks... there have been instances of the right shock being on upside down and not allowing a full seat on the shock pin.

Spazz is right. My 2015 SGS came from the factory with the inverted right side shock. I spent a good 10 mins fiddling about with that! Most dealers are aware of this ... So if your right, forward lactch is the "tight" one, could be. Also, I had to fiddle with the black cams and that vertical line on them since there are 2 lines, 180 degrees apart on each cam. One was fine, they other needed rotated 180 degrees. There is also a small 2mm washer on each mount that I played around with on/off. Not sure if it was better on or off.

I just installed the 4 point and solo rack the other day and was also having trouble getting the right side to seat on the shock boss even after I turned the shock right side up.
I ended up bending the lower hook in a little on the right side and it just squeaks by the shock now.

I appreciate all of the information. Luckily my shock was installed correctly. I have three locks set with one on the right side of the rack that won't budge. Iv'e aligned the bushings, made sure the rack is all the way forward and have tried to wrestle it in. It just wont lock. Looks like it's tight enough though as it's not moving. Just wish it would seat and lock for my peice of mind. I even tried a rubber mallet. Any additional suggestions, or should I leave as is?

I'm not having issues with docking the rack goes in and connects to the shock tightly I just cannot get the cam on the right side to lock in it's almost there but no cigar.

If you have a friend with a backrest. .. try theirs and see if you have an issue... it will rule out the docking hardware or confirm its the issue.... then try yours on their bike... it will confirm either the backrest or the hardware.

I have my docking hardware installed correctly and I still have the same problem. I can get one cam to set properly and easily, and the other takes some pushing. Once both cams lock in, it's really hard to get back off. I have read some reviews online and it seems that other people complain about this too.

I had a bad cam on an Air Wing Rack. They are coated aluminum so I dremeled the slot a bit and it worked fine. Later I replaced the cam machines with locking units and the fit was perfect. I believe that the machining quality of the cam apparatus is in question. After I deleted the cam lock in question I have no problems
