yo guys , well it's time to upgrade sound system on my 14 SGS And was doing research on kits .

I know the J&M stuff is nice but also has a nice tag on it to so I started looking at something a little cheaper and seen the new hog tunes kits for my bike , according to hog tunes it's all plug and play , no flashes ect. , hog tunes states that this new system is tuned for RIDING speeds , what ever that means

This kit is under 500.00 with speakers and 200w amp

ANYONE have this system yet ? If so how does it compare to stock boom or the biketronics ,recommended kits welcome too.

I'm tired of flying down the road at full volume and needing more power

If there's a post done already I havnt found it

Thx all

I have been looking at the Hogtunes kit also at $429 its budget friendly that's for sure I have not been able to find any reviews as of yet on this system I have looked at other reviews for Hogtunes products that have gotten decent reviews unless I see some bad reviews between now and the time I'm ready to upgrade my sound system this is the set up I plan to go with I'm not looking for a top of the line setup just a decent upgrade over stock that will not put a big whole in my wallet

Just ran across cycle sound amp and speaker reviews with there magic box thats pretty dam Interesting ,

I havnt pulled my fairing off yet , does the 14 SGS come with a amp tray ? Or do I need one

Not stock they don't have an amp tray I guess you would need to have some way of mounting an amp to keep it from sliding around inside the fairing

I went with the cycle sounds kit. I have a 14 SGS and the kit was complete plug and play. I was actually shocked about how good it sounds.
You will get come velcro in the kit to mount the amp, allot of the kits come that way and it works very well. The amp fits perfectly and the magic box also fits perfect on top of the amp

Just a little info you might be interested in. J&M is a sponsor to our forum here, if you email them and tell them your a member you will receive a discount. I know a few guys on the forum have went this route and are very happy with the decision. Good luck and keep us posted

You could just get a j&m 250w amp I believe . The more kick the better for highway speeds.

200 watt may not be enough.

I had the 250w for several years before I upgraded to 500 watt. The 250 works well with 2 speakers

I'll keep my 600 watts... lol

J&M just came out with a 330 watt amp for the 14/15 Street Glide...

I'm tempted as I'm about to pull the trigger & upgrade my amp & front speakers...

Chaderick can you tell me how much of a upgrade over stock ?

and what did the complete kit run you

I'm not looking for a top end system but I don't want to waste money . I would rather spend a little more for something decent.

Philt1 I had a set of Hog Tunes 5.25" upgrade speakers in my 2008 FLHT. They were definitely an upgrade over stock but didn't put out much bass, but the mid and high ends were improved a lot. The price was much better than most but I wasn't completely satisfied with them.

For my 2015 FLHXS, I decided that I wanted something better. More volume (because I want to be able to hear over my pipes on the highway), bass and clarity were my main goals. After doing a lot of research I decided Biketronics would work best for me. I purchased the 7.1" speakers and BT2180.14 Amp (2 channel @ 180W/channel RMS). They're not cheap at $840USD ($1015CDN :( ) Unfortunately I had a defective transformer so I haven't been able to try the amp yet but the speakers are nice. I had done the H-D Stereo software update as recommended by Biketronics before I installed everything. Without the amp, the stock stereo doesn't put out enough juice to power the 7.1" speakers at a decent volume but the clarity is much better than stock. Once I get the replacement transformer installed I'll write a more detailed review on my findings.

I did look at J&M and HogTunes but they just weren't right for me. I know J&M is a sponsor and I'm not saying anything bad about their products and haven't heard any of their installs other than what's on YouTube. Unfortunately with any YouTube video, it's all subject to how it was recorded, where it was recorded and the type of music being played. What sounds great to one person may not be right for another.

Good luck with your decision and let us know how it works out.

FLHXStrider ,bummer about the amp man , but I've narrowed it down to cycle sound , it's all plug and play , not the best but pretty decent I don't have to deal with the stealership , I can't stand those turds , I really getting SICK of HD trying to suck every dime out of us , I have 3 HDs and love them all but like I said , getting very tired of there tactics

I realize everybody is on a budget but I went with the Soundz Customz set up because I only wanted to do this once. Knew I would do the cheap then try and live with it forever so I went with the best for my money and the adage pay now or pay later.

Just my 2 cents

At 80 mph with the radio at 75% I can't hear the bike. At times the high notes even hurt my ears. I was shocked with the clarity and volume of this kit. It's not the best kit on the market, if you want the best I'm sure some guys on here can lead you in that direction and your gonna pay for it, this kit isnt super cheap either but this worked with my budget and I am stoked of the outcome.

That's pretty much like mine and then some.... I have a lot of power behind my system and the speakers to deliver. I, like TomA only wanted to to this once and glad I did. I have read several accounts of owners doing audio 2 and 3 times over... not what I wanted to do... so I spent it all at once and glad I did. I was really close on the Magic Boxes to be honest...

All valid points , - Yup , that's what I'm lookin for Chaderick my cruising speed is 80-85 and stock is ALMOST loud enough , I say that because I have a app that I amplify all my songs to get it to that level ( not too clear thou) with out that app I couldn't hear crap at those speeds , I still can't enjoy my music like I would like too thou so I'm going to pull the trigger on this system .

I was saving for new woods 777 cams and head work but that can wait , bikes running great
