On the '15 sg there is a spot left of the radio for a storage compartment. I asked dealer about it and was told there is stuff right behind fairing there and can't be done. ( like the right side). Well, I had my fairing apart to adjust my bars and LO AND BEHOLD! there is actually a space right behind the left side of the fairing that is reserved for ??? My question is.. Does anyone know if HD makes a "left side compartment " or has anyone done a mod to utilize this space?

Theres alot of empty space on the left side. Harley definitely should have put a compartment door there too. I installed my Dakota Digital oil temp gauge in that spot.

I believe the XM module goes in that spot in the fairing. it would be nice to have to option for storage there if you don't have XM

The CB module fits in there, if they had made a door for that side you could still get an iPhone in even if the CB was installed.

The way I increased storage in the Juke box area was to discard the foam rubber filler. I then used it as a template to line the cavity with adhesive backed 1/8 in foam. Now I can put BOTH my billfold and Iphone in there!

I don't trust anything in that pocket anymore. First weekend after buying the bike, I was out for a ride with my phone in the pocket, but because of its size (galaxy s3) I couldn't use the foam. Riding at about 50, the door rattled open, and the phone fell out. I managed to retrieve all the big pieces, but the screen never lit up again.

Now I have my garage door opener wedged into the foam, and whole thing wedged in, and phone / wallet / etc. all sit in a saddlebag organizer tray.

Of course, in the 4k miles since that weekend, I've yet to have the door come open again, but the new phone is too large to fit in the pocket anyway.

My phone will not fit there. I keep it in the right hand bag where it belongs. When on the bike I don't need to have a phone in close proximity.

I find the compartment a better fit for my glasses and cigarettes my phone fits but so tightly I keep it in the gaurd bags.. No need to have it handy underway

Yep very similar thing happened with my Galaxy S5 Active, but only minor scratches to the phone because if its beefier construction.

The left side area would be a really great place for something I think, but can't think of anything that doesn't have a good place already.

So...................Here's what I do

So I routed the cable from the storage compartment to the holder which is a secure iPhone 6 Plus holder that allows me to slide it in and out without having to touch the cord. My phone stays charged and I can control the music from the POS radio that is built into the bike.........I can see which artist is playing and I can control the music with the switches very easily.

What about the built-in GPS you may be asking???..........well I did call this a POS radio and the GPS is the main reason......IMO Harley couldn't have gotten a worse GPS unit if they were trying to find the worst......the $49 Garmin app in my phone is so superior it's a joke....including traffic, speed camera notification and the ability to make changes and find new destinations while driving...........the only thing I use the POS unit for is if I want to find the nearest dealer.....interesting how Harley will let you find a dealer while driving but you can't enter an address........I think the guy/team that is responsible for this system should be publicly ridiculed, chastised and fired (twice if it was possible)..........how pathetic is it that a $49 App can do such a better job of navigating than a $1000+ dedicated system............Rant off, I'm better now.....Sorry Guys:p

I added an air tank for my air ride in the dead spot.

Really like your set up. Wondering where you picked up that phone holder? Is it a clamp on?

The only thing I use that little storage compartment for is my garage door opener and 128 gig USB flash drive

I pulled the foam out as well. Use a bag( crown royal bag) and put my ipod in it and then into the pocket. Never had anyissues and it increases the room and stops the rattling around

Hahahahaha, I don't have the 6.5 but I absolutely agree Paul, the radio team at HD should be fired and ridiculed, twice. This is really the only complaint about my bike I have, otherwise I have a hard time not riding it.

First things first . . . Lose the silly over sized foam filler in the Juke compartment !

It speeds up the lift on rear air ride system by having a volume of standby air.
