Has any one installed a JL Audio M200x2 amp with C3-650 Speakers with the factory Boom Radio? I am curious on the sound quality as well as the size of the M200X2 amp. I have heard good things about the Fosgate PBR300x2 amp, but since I live in Costa Rica I am leaning towards the marine grade amp with the year round high humidity levels, not to mention the potential leaks from the fairing vents. Is anyone running the C3-650 speakers with the Fosgate amp?

Not I Nooch but welcome to he SG forums from Nashville, TN~!

Welcome Nooch from Alberta, Canada. I had upgraded to the HD amp kit and speakers. Sounds way better than the originals and with ear plugs in at full volume it still sounds good. Ear plugs are to keep the wind noise down not the tunes.

Thanks Sday73!So you are really happy with the Harley Boom upgrade? I have read several reviews that stated they could not really tell a difference ... may the installs were botched! Hopefully you get your ride back soon ;-)

I now have this amp that has the ability to expand to 4 speakers plus this cable and the magic box it's plug and play all but running the power and ground wires.

Standing still at 3/4 volume it hurts my ears, I can be doing 80 with my 1/2 helmet w/Sena SPH10H-FM Bluetooth and hear the radio fine under 1/2 volume.

You can view it here

Basically translates to 200w per channel. You can use any speakers you want. I have also heard good things about the Fosgate amp.

Thanks WildChild! What are the dimensions of that amp? Did you install in the fairing?

Welcome from Northern Idaho, I added the J&M JAMP-250HC14P amp with the J&M ROKKER XX 6.65” Fairing Speakers
I also wear earplugs to reduce the wind noise & I can hear the Radio just fine at 70 plus mph. It is more expensive than the Harley Boom system but by shopping around I got 20% off on the amp & 25% off on the speakers.
I have only worked with the J&M products but they were all just a plug & play installation. I did call J&M about one connection to the amp and they were very helpful & curious.

As you may have heard. Right now I am riding a rental with All stock parts. I can sure tell the difference. Their is more distortion with the factory speakers compared to the boom Audio upgrade.

Thanks JMeadows. I like the plug and play installation of the J&M ... my buddy pushed me towards the JL stuff. I kinds liked the Marine grade aspect as Costa Rica has really high humidity and I am looking for some longevity out of this stuff. Keep you posted as to what I decide!

Sits right on top you have to relocate a couple cables and the GPS antenna. Look at the pics in my thread. 2 screws or velcro can hold in place. Run 2 #8 for power and ground. Pic of my inline fuse too

Thanks Wildchild. i only have the 4.3 Boom, so I wont have to relocate the GPS antenna. Ordered my stuff Monday, so with any luck they should arrive middle of next week. I will let you know how the install goes, and of course the sound quality.

Any questions let me know. Hint the ground is under the end of the tank and front of the seat follow it from the battery to the frame. Got my in-line fuse holder at Amazon and 25 amp fuse. Also check the speaker grills don't touch the speakers. I removed the black grill from the plastic frame and aliened with some tape then glued in place.

Thank you very much! Can you be more specific about the ground being under the the end of the tank and front of seat? I was planning on running a wire from the battery the amp along with the power.

It's better to ground to the bike than the neg on the battery. Follow the ground from the neg side of the battery to the bike frame. There is a lug with a screw. Remove screw and attach the amp ground. Removing the battery cover makes things easier too.

Well... as usual I did not follow popular opinion and went with the JL Audio M200x2amp with C3-650 speakers on my 2014 SG. The mounting of the amo was not as bad as I had initially thought, as there is a metal bracket above the radio where the amps mounts nicely. The issue I had was mounting the speakers. They had sold me some adapters that are not made for the 14's and not to mention if they did, I would have had to butcher the speaker pods in order to mount the front fairing again! Slightly more than I had bargained for.... The speakers mounted nicely to the outside of the speaker pods .... but as soon as I put the pods in place i saw the surrounds were rubbing the holes in the fairing as well as the tweeter was hitting the speaker grills! So i ended up mounting them inside the pods (minor cutting, grinding and patching required). The crossovers and converter I tucked into the pocket next to the right of the radio.
Over all the installation process took a buddy and I about 6 hrs. The next day I spent another 45 mins or so tuning the converter and amp ... and i have to say it sounds amazing. It sounds 10X better than stock! Had her out yesterday and at 80 it sounds really good.
I have not had the opportunity to hear any of the plug and play systems, but if you are up to the challenge ... this set up will be worth it. I did not have to flash my radio and the sound quality is there.

Cycle Sounds sells grills that don't hit or you can order the upgrade Boom speaker grills there both thin and metal
