I don't know if this is normal or not. I applied the rear brake hard today and it almost made a downshifting feel/sound. So after getting home from the ride I road up and down my street hitting the rear brake hard and got the clunk sound every time. So I did a search on the problem and some people say its normal for the rear ABS to do this. Just curious to hear other people's opinions.

I have not heard that noise yet. Have hit the brakes hard a few times. I wonder if you could be hearing back lash in the tranny from a hard stop.

Check to see if your rear Caliper bolts are loose or one is missing.

I just bought a 2015 Street Glide Special, with less than 3k miles. My first Harley, so learning about all the clanks and noises. I am having exactly the same noise. On a medium to hard break, a loud clank noise that sounds exactly like a down**** clang to first. Where you able to determine the cause?

Same problem here. Hard rear breaking creates tension on the shifter when trying to down shift. My thoughts were Slack in the primary chain or belt?

Do you have a floating rotor style brake disc? I had something similar on the front of my fat bob.

ABS equipped will make that sound.
Its normal fellas.

I recommend everyone to experience and practice hard braking. Its a good idea to feel the ABS in action and know what to expect..
