I am going to need new tires this summer and have been thinking either commander2's or the night dragons. I have a commander 2 on the front now and looks like I will get about 12000 miles on it... Any suggestions?

I really like commander IIs I've never researched the others, but I would go with the Michelin again for sure

Anyone else have opinions on tires I would think with all the people on here that log thousands of miles that there would be some more opinions on what tires to run?

Still running my second set of the stock tires. When the time comes I will also look at the commander 2's. Haven't given it much thought lately as these still have a couple thousand left on them. Had good luck with Metzlers on my last bike but haven't looked at them lately. Thinking last year they didn't have the front tire size yet.

Commander 2 will last longer and the ride is about 10 percent harder. I got them on my other bike and it is a good distances tire.

Commanders are awesome.. Had a set of Metz on 14SGS had a terrible wobble at 95mph. Installed commanders and could not reproduce wobble at all. Good wet traction. Currently have about 8grand on tire with minimum wear

I have the night dragons with about 2k miles on them and they ride better than the factory tire.

The cheapest i found was $339 for the pair that was with a 21 inch front

The Pirelli's are a softer compound so you probably won't get near as many miles out of them. Great for "gription" though.

The size I have on front is 130/60B/19 but I can't find the same exact size. Has anyone else had this problem for the Commander 2??

Just put on the Commander 2 on front and rear for 380.00 installed. Have not found a single bad review. Will let you know as they wear.

I just got my set for three 338.99 but that is with a 21 inch front tire so I can't speak for the 19. Just waiting for my old ones to completely wear out before I put them on

I just replaced my stock Dunlop (at 13,100 miles), with a Commander 2. After I did my research, it was between the Commander 2 and the Meztler ME 888. Once I learned that the CHP had changed over to Commander 2s, I was sold. Going to be heading out today for a 1,500 mile, 5 day tour with hella twisties up in the Trinity Alps and across the Central Valley so I will be able to report on performance. I'm hoping to get 20k+ miles out of this tire, but time will tell. I got the tire at Cycle Gear for $211 + tax and paid another $20 for tire protection. McGuires HD charged me $144 for the install.

Basically, from what I read, the Night Dragons offer just about the best performance (grip and traction through the twisties) that you can get on our bikes, but the Commander II lasts 2-3 times as many miles. Since it's widely accepted that the Commander II is already leaps and bounds ahead of the stock tire, I went with the Commander II on my bike, and haven't looked back. With better than stock performance, and as long as the tread lasts as long as people say it does, it's the total package in my book.
