Hey everyone; I have a 6-day ride coming up and am in the market for some luggage. I have really come to like the idea of a number of the dry-bag options I've seen out there. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I'm looking at bags from Givi, DrySpec, FirstGear, and Oxford. My biggest concern is mounting the bag on the bike. I will be attaching it to the passenger seat, mostly to get a little more back support during the long ride. Most of these bags, however, seem constructed solely with the adventure touring/dual sport market in mind where it is strapped to the frame, under fenders, etc.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Looked at everything you mentioned above and one of the firstgear duffles would be my choice. You can pak it full, stand it on the rear sear and strap it around the sissy bar.

What I do is take one of my army duffles bags, put my cloths in plastic bags or a wet weather bags and strap it on. I also have a tour pak too.

I use Saddlemen S3500... even comes with a rain bag built in

I also use the Saddleman. I have both sizes: 3400 & 1800.

Thanks for all the suggestions. One of the other considerations I failed to mention before is how cheap I am and I can get any of the dry bags for well under $100. I will give the T-Bags and Kuryakyn bags a closer look though.

This is what I use from Walmart....its cheap ($35) but does the trick. I've been on several rides with this strapped to my rear seat. If I have the tour-pak I can still strap it down otherwise it attaches to the rear backrest...and if you find you don't like it, take it back or keep it as a spare backpack.

I've used a Viking bag for 4 years and had performed well

I also have the Saddleman 3800EX with built in Rain Cover and it can be mounted several different ways. I rode a full day in the rain and arrived with dry gear.

I also bought the large wet bag from Walmart for like $35 to haul some camping gear in it. Stood it up on the passenger seat and strapped to the sissy bar and it worked well.

Wow, thanks again everyone. It's great having a resource like all of you to get reliable information for a newbie like me.
