Yeah I got something on my one pipe and really not sure what it is or was. I've damn near broken my arms n fingers trying to get it off.
I've read trough the forum and found some tips that I've already tried. I use Mothers a lot on my bike but it isn't touching whatever's on my pipe. I have tried s100 wetting paste but not a fan of it all Ecuador it's abrasive. Even tried good old oven cleaner. Unsuccessful.
Anything else anyone could suggest?
My arms would greatly thank you 😃

I once snagged a plastic shopping bag on the road and it melted directly onto my brand new SE Street Cannons. Like you, I tried every chrome and metal cleaner I could find trying to get the melted plastic off my right side pipe.....but none worked. I got so frustrated, I bought a package of SOS pads; grabbed a bucket of warm water and guess what...it worked perfectly, leaving absolutely no scratches! Just keep the pads well soaked, grab a new one when it the pads soap starts to dry up and use as little pressure as possible.
Hope this helps, it worked well for me.

Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

I've used Easy Off Oven Cleaner with good results.
For boot marks I've used Lacquer Thinner with good results.

In previous threads this same discussion included the information that oven cleaner worked best on hot surfaces

Guess I'll retry the oven cleaner and observe some patience a bit more this time.
Seems like enough if y'all recommend it so I'll give it a try again.
Thanks guys.

I've used SOS pads on chrome before like was already said. Works great.

I had something fried on my pipe near the front foot peg. I ended up using a dremel with the felt pad and Chrome polish. Took a Little work but I did't screw up the chrome.

Really easy to take the slip on muffler off. Loosen the pipe clamps and remove the bolt on the bag mount and you will have to wiggle and turn the muffler some to get it to come off. Sometimes you have to use a little more force to get them to move if clamps were good and tight.

Good luck

Well...I have an update to cleaning "something" off my pipes. This might be hard to believe, but dammit...it worked.
Talked with a co-worker who has an SG. I asked him what he uses to clean road debris off his chrome pipes. Told him Ive tried it all. Mothers,Oven Cleaner,Dremel and chrome polish. He smiled at me,chuckled and told me to use aluminum foil and keep it wet.
I looked at him like he shouldve went for a drug test. what!?!? Really...what!?!?
Got home yesterday morning after a short 20 mile ride. Got a piece of aluminum foil approx 8"x8".
Folded it down to a bout a 1"x3" piece and half way folded that so it looked like the letter "L". Held on to the upright piece with my thumb on bottom piece and a spray bottle of plain old water in other hand.
Pipe was def. hot cause I fried my arm when I bumped against it. Sprayed water on problem area and cringed as I started rubbing with aluminum foil. Rub Rub Rub,spray spray rub rub rub....
about 5 minutes of this and summuva bitch....ALL marks were completely gone with zero scratching!!!
I was floored. Completely floored.
I saw co-worker at work today, thanked him and told him to make sure his ol' lady took care of him good when he got home from work.
I just wish I wouldve gotten before and after pics. This tip is awesome because it's something you can get at almost any restaurant on the road. No need to carry anything special in side bags. I find myself constantly looking at pipe in disbelief.
:)

You learn something everyday on SGF! Thanks for sharing, I'll have to remember that when someone has that problem.

I never have that problem because I always ride barefoot!!

I'll have to give that a try. Thank you for sharing with us.

Aluminium foil will also clean rust off old chrome spoked wheels. If pitted, the aluminium will fill the pit making it look better.... temporarily.
