Installed my new Roland Sands Chrono grips today. I am very pleased with them. They have a great feel to them and really blend good with my edge cut levers and fork sliders. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431224047.742763.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1431224068.894313.jpg

i heard there are many issues that you can run into with the switches and all so i paid the harley dealer to do it so i didnt have any issues.

Just changing grips is pretty simple... I did the heated grips myself which was a little bit more labor intensive because of the wiring. You could probably do standard grips in about 30 mins.

How did you get the left grip off? Did you have to remove the mileage button?

If you are just changing the grips I don't think you have to remove the button. if you pull up on it slightly it will stay in that position which should give you enough clearance to loosen the switch housing and slide the grip out. I did take the mileage button off though because I took the black housings off and put chrome ones on. It was pretty easy to get off. Once it is in the up position it slides to the side and pops off.

Harley mechanic told me to cut it off. It came off easy that way. Changed both grips out in less than 15 minutes.

I'm not worried about getting it off. More concerned about getting the new one on without modding it to work.

It's very easy. Just loosen all the bolts that clamp the control housing to the bar. They come of easy and new ones go on easy.

Thanks. I had heard the mileage button gets in the way. I'm glad it doesn't.

Nope, it's easy. I switched mine out in about 10 mines each side. Just loosen the switch housing bolts like blkbrd said, cut the old ones off, unless you plan on reusing them. I wouldn't recommend doing that. Clean the old glue on the left side, sand it down if needed to roughen it up for the new glue. Apply the glue, slip on the left side and let it cure for 24 hours. The right grip doesn't need glue, it just slips right on. Good luck....

Not all the grips are glued on and my new ones were the glueless type. Once you loosen up the switch housings I would see if the old ones slip off and check the mounting instructions for the new ones before you start gluing stuff on. I would double check and make sure before you start cutting stuff off.

True, but if it's the oem grip, the left comes glued on. I replaced them with Kuryakin Transformer grips which came with glue for the left side. I thought about using double-sided tape instead of glue but I don't know how that would hold up so I used Goo Glue and so far it's held up well.

I have changed out grips before and never seen them glued on newer bikes. So I'm not thinking these are either. But time will tell.

I bought Avon grips for my 2012 Glide and it came with no glue.. They just got clamped in the switch housing!

+1. But they can be slightly tricky to get lined up just right. My horn button sticks now because it's a little too tight on that side of the housing. Just haven't gotten around to resetting it yet. Rarely use it anyway, that's what hand gestures are for!
