I installed a set of Diamond Audio Elite speakers in my 15 SG. I was going to wait on doing the amp because I don't have time before leaving to Sturgis. After I got them installed, they don't sound as loud as the stock speakers going down the road.

I'm an old car audio guy and have done hundreds of speaker swaps from cars to bikes to boats you name it. I was wondering if there is something I'm missing on the 15 SG like a setting that is hurting the performance of these speakers or am I just going to have to stick it out until I install my amp.

Thanks guys, love the forum!

Stock speakers are 2 ohms are the ones you put in 4 ohms? could be the reason...

You beat me to it....lol! Also, some drivers (speakers) need power to make them perform.... like they should perform.

Wow....I feel like a horses rear end. Never thought to check that. I was just so excited to put something new on the bike. So my question now is, will the amp kit that Rockford has for Harley work on the 2014-15 bikes? Or will it only work on the 13 and older?

Before you dive into audio on your sled...research, research, research! I too am an ol skool car audio buff and took 10 months of research before pulling the trigger on a system. There are many choices.... from bargains to high-end.... you need to know what you want and listen to a few systems BEFORE you dive in. Researching a particular component or system can save you tons of money and time.

I am not going to tell you what you should or shouldn't buy, since everyone has there own opinions and preferences... I am VERY pleased with my system ( in signature ) as others are pleased with theirs.

In no particular order... I will name a few sources for you and do yourself a favor.... RESEARCH....

Soundz Customz
J&M
Biketronics
CycleSounds

Also if you are on FB.... Chris Lowe is a wealth of info on GARAGE BAGGER STEREO.....

Remember you can damage a speaker if your not providing them enough power.

Ditto. Pete at Soundz and Chris Lowe from Garage Bagger Stereo are very helpful sources. The Facebook group Harley Davidson Bagger stereo is another resource to consider.

I'm also old skool car audio buff and I have to add my .02 for Pete at Soundz. He knows this whole 2 wheeled audio quandary inside and out. What I have also learned is that if I listen to music on an iPod vs bluetooth on my phone it makes a huge difference.

OK, I think you mean that if your amp is too small with out enough power, and you overdrive it into clipping, you can damage a speaker.
