Resolved, see post 2.
So twice in the last week while riding my bike has dropped to below 12v and the battery indicator light comes on. Most of the time the dash reads 14v while moving and 12v idle but I saw it drop to 12v while cruising at about 2500rpm today. Both times it happened, I was near my destination and after a few minutes stopped(inside a store, or home) the bike starts and returns to normal 14v.

After the first time I saw it, I turned it off and put my fluke on the battery. It read 12.6v. I started the bike and it dropped to 12.3 and would not go up even up to 3k rpm. I turned it off for a new minutes and came back out, 12.3 starting and it went to 13.7v after starting.

You guys are much more knowledgeable and experienced. I haven't seen this happen before, so I'm wondering if this may be a sign of just an overheating regulator or if it's a sign of an impending failure. I want to doubt the overheating theory as I've had this and my Switchback in hotter conditions without a problem.

My battery was replaced in may but no other work done.

OK happened again today but right after I left my pit stop. 8 miles of freeway with the light on, and she started charging again. It went back down to 12v after a few miles but this time never went to the low voltage warning. Got an appointment Friday to see what's going on

OK so I just got home from the dealership. Tech wrote that both the stator and regulator were bad and they were replaced under extended warranty.

Stator: "technician found the stator plug to be melted and putting too much charge to the regulator"

I've literally never heard anything like this. But if that's the case, it was probably a bad stator that then ruined the regulator.
