I made the mistake of riding the CVO and feel in love with it (excluding the sound). I think they can get the numbers where I want them from our talks. So:

OR

I'd say keep what u have and go talk to Fuel Moto. Then it'll smoke the 2017 and everything else and not have radiators and other stuff to break.

Keep the 14 at least for a couple more years until you see how they hold up. until then build yours the way you want it.

Sounds like you've got half a CVO from your profile. I was thinking of the same thing but when I can buy a new 4X4 truck for about the same I scratch my head. I won't lie I high five myself in the forehead every time I look at a black 16 that's at my dealership. I struggle with the thought of having my Harley paid off and do more adding and work over the motor. I will still stick with a tried and true 103 that's proven than a $38,000 plus bike with a first year motor design. That comes from being told growing up to never go with a 1st year production motor change give it a year or so to see how it holds up. I'm not digging on anyone that has a 17 with the new M8 motor I'm just commenting from a personal opinion only.

My brother just bought a 2017 CVO SG and he seems to love it. I have ridden it a couple of times and while it is a torque monster, it doesn't feel like it'll outrun my 2015 107ci SGS, but we shall see. I'm just waiting on my brother to poke the bear and we will make them dance to see who comes out on top.

Cons for me are:

1. The $200 bag liners have to be modified to fit around the amp and the quick disconnect wiring harnesses in the bags.
2. Seat is a two piece design and doesn't allow for the installation of a rider backrest.

Pros for me are:

1. Killer paint job
2. Aggressor wheels
3. Boom Audio II with two amps (sounds great with decent bass)
4. Remote controlled saddlebag locks
5. Gloss black engine covers
6. Has HD Windsplitter wind screen
7. Gas tank has low profile console with a light in it and a pop up gas cap
8. Has communication port for headset
9. Has 90 degree valve stems in the tires
10. Motor has gobs of torque

I have been a Mechanical engineer for 40 years. The new 2017 M8 motor will get many "fixes" over the first few years and aftermarket parts will be developed and proven in the field. Run your new motor a few years and then go for the 8 valve motor.

That's sounds like a great idea hulkss. I don't think I would trade mine in for a new 2017, but I might consider swapping out the TC motor for an M8 down the road. I am in a unique position in that I will be able to closely monitor how well my brother's M8 performs as he modifies it. He's a performance guy like me and is already talking about head work, cams and a possible 117 kit.

Put a stage V to your bike and enjoy the power. Our Rushmore may have a bit more heat between the legs. I am sure it is still an awesome ride.

Well, I appreciate all of the advice and comments. With 8 votes, the SGS gets the win, However, I did the deal so the CVO comes home. Dealer made a good offer on my bike and I raised, they went for it. Then we haggled over December in Kentucky and if they want to own the new one January 1st, we struck a good number there too. On top of that, I paid 55% for the ESP w/Wheel.

I truly am torn. I love my SGS and what I got it to. Plus I live a mile down a gravel road. So August dry season I am going to hate to black. The next 2-3 months I'm going to hate the extra 100 a month on my payments that started over also!!!

That said, the CVO is super sharp, and has lots of trinket things but I guess that's what your paying for. I really like that the cases are black with metal flake that matches the gold metal flake in the paint on the tins plus the gloss black covers. Locking bags are cool. Runs very well, Stereo is now a step down from mine, but its not bad as long as it doesn't clip.

Only little things are planned at this point. Black pipes and fork legs for sure. The rest we will see. Gotta save all of the OEM parts so I don't get my coffers filled by selling old stuff off that will hurt lol.

Time will tell. I pick it up tomorrow, should be dry and around 50. They offered to deliver and pick up mine, but I want one last ride on the ol' girl and of course to ride the new one.

Congrats, no one here should give you grief over getting a new CVO. Ultimately it's your money and how you enjoy it 😁

Yes congratulations on the new bike and we all have thought about trading for a CVO one time or another.

Quick question - When you say the liners have to be modified, (not that I intend to use them) but what, how and why? I just stuck one in on the left side and it seems to fit fine. didn't hold them together, but it looks like there is a left (shorter) and I right. I do see where something laying flat after installed could get caught under the plug.

Congrats on the new scooter! I do like the new 17's but I don't really like the motor, I like the torque but it just doesn't feel right to me. It's too smooth and quiet! I guess I'm old school to an extent and I love the old style thumping of the engine and the sound. To me, it feels like the new design is for the "city slicker" that wants to call himself a biker lol. That's just my opinion though and not a bash to anyone that likes them

No bashing. I love the bike, not the sound. I'll fix that!
