I installed rear bag speakers. Wondering what everyone thinks? See pictures. I like it.

I'm wondering if you're losing out on a bit of the volume/clarity given the direction they're facing.

They are facing upward pretty much the same as other speaker lids. I can hear them, but truthfully I think my wife is going to benefit more then I will from them.

Seems a lot of people are paying big money for speaker lids and paint. I simply just cut a hole and installed good free air speakers. To me it looks good.

You can do that with 13 and down models... not on 14 and up...FYI. Needed to clarify that for 14 and up owners....

Yup your wife should be getting the most use from those speakers. I like it and they also look to be less space consuming that 6x9s internally mounted

metalheart...Actually the speakers in the lids of a CVO, or my crappy little FLHXS w/the BOOM! rear speaker upgrade are NOT facing straight up like yours. They are, in fact, canted forward slightly so that the rider gets full spectrum between front and rear if the FADE setting is set to center. I can fade everything to the rear and hear the rear speakers ONLY as if they are pointing right at the sides of my head, where my ears are located. Nothing particularly wrong with your set-up. In fact, I applaud your ingenuity and economical upgrade.

If you look closely, you can see the forward canted angle of the Tri-Ax speaker inside the grilled housing.

Why is that Spazz?

The backbone of the lid houses the lock linkage and is directly in the path of where a 6.5" speaker would be....I may have jumped the gun on saying it CAN'T be done... ANYTHING can be done.

I don't blame you for getting the rear speakers so your wife can hear, or hear better. I am not exactly a fan of how those look, but that's just my personal preference. I did rear speakers and spent about 1k doing so (HD saddle bag lids, speakers, etc). My wife is only slightly happier. I can't hear them at all in any way shape or form whatsoever. It seems as though they were louder at first and possibly are not as loud as they used to be??? I don't know. The dealer that installed it said all was well. I will be getting an amp at some point. I have to research that. I'll likely get HD so there is no problems with the speakers or radio, even though aftermarket may be louder. I don't need an amp for me because I hear the front speakers just fine, but my wife still can't hear well at I-road speed. You will likely be buying an amp too.

I see...makes sense....and with a little bondo, silicone, epoxy, and duct tape, anythings possible....
