Will I have any issues, such as axle/swingarm contact with the pipes, etc.... by using a 13" ST shock instead of a stock 12"? Just looking for more travel when two-up. We hit once in awhile now and that blows. I'm running about 38 psi in the stock shocks. I am 200 lbs. and my wife is about 150 lbs.. May add a chopped tour pack for a long haul, but, typically just have a back rest and once in awhile a luggage rack.
A thirteen inch shock is the standard length for the FL touring bike rear suspension. Harley supplies a twelve inch "lowered" suspension as original equipment on the Street Glide in the USA. European Street Glides and Electra Glides in the USA get thirteen inch shocks.
I know the 13" is standard on most FLs, just wasn't sure if HD changed anything else on the SG besides the shock and seat. Should be good to go then. Thanks.
In reference to Progressive shocks, is there an appreciable ride quality difference from the 412 to 416 or the 430? I know this may be a tough question to answer, but, which is the best stock replacement for the money?

I just installed a set of Progressive 444 on my 2014 street glide and you would not believe the difference in the ride! I was intending on using these with my already installed LA Choppers lowering blocks. For any that may and try the same, they will not work together! I went with the 12" but wish I would have gone with their 11.25" version.
Thanks for the info.. I decided to build a shock press and change the oil in my Stock HD 12" SG shocks. I pumped out the original oil and installed 10 wt. oil. Won't be able to test drive it til spring. The shock oil change takes about 45 minutes to an hour to do including removing and installing the shocks.
I've read nothing but positive reviews on the Progressive 444 and 944. I want to get some for my 2014. I'm a bit confused, though. What size do I want? I see the 444 comes 11.5" and higher (in half inch increments). The 944, however, only comes in 13".......but it says it is "lowered" to resemble a 12".
Does this mean the 944 13" will be a "better" option than the 444 12"? I'd like to stay as low as possible, but I don't want to sacrifice comfort either. Any advice? Thanks.

Here's what Progressive sent me today. Pretty much what I figured. I've got some 944 13" on the way.
"If you installed any 12” shock on your model it would allow you to keep the same ride height you have now. If you went with the 13” 444 shocks you would have more shock travel but this would raise your rear ride height 1” and change the way the bike handles from the factory. And for your third question, an 11.5” shock would cause the ride to be stiffer than stock because the shock has less travel.
What I recommend to FLHX riders who want to keep stock ride height and get the best ride is to use the 13” 944 shock. This shock measures as a 13” shock off of the bike, but when installed and the bike is under its own weight it will collapse 1” to sit like a 12” shock would. The result is the same ride height but you gain an inch of down travel in the wheel."

Yes, 13" shocks do change the handling - for the better. That is the stock height used on Electra Glides including the police bikes. Street glides are lowered from the factory in the US due to popularity of the "Bagger Look". In Europe, where handling is valued more by consumers, Street Glides ship with 13" shocks.
