Rim vs tire size

So I'm looking at changing my rims on my 06 SG. Currently 16" spoke front and back, looking to go up to 18" in front and back. Thoughts on tire sizes? Going for Mich comm. as I have read great reviews for wet road riding here in PNW. Don't want to over load fender space just want a bit snugger of a fit. And if I upgrade front to 18" should leave back at 16" and get tire with taller side wall? Last bikes were softail custom and dyna wide glide so im new to changing up stuff on a bagger, and don't wanna compromise that Cadillac feeling ride I purchased it for. Thanks.

I plan to go with Avon Cobra's: Avon Cobra
I recommend an 18x3.5" front and 16x5.0" rear wheel.
Tires 130/70B18 & 180/65B16 These are reinforced bias ply tires made to work on our bikes.
Lower profile tires on larger diameter wheels will not ride or handle as well.

Not sure if these will fit your bike.

Thanks that's the info I was looking for. I considered the avons, great reviews, and price isn't that much more than michilans. I have always used the mich. on other bikes so i know how they ride.
