I've got the pbr300x4 hooked up in my street glide. Everything worked fine at first with just the front speakers hooked. Then once I got my lids paid Ted and installed and the rears hooked up it started cutting out at high volume while riding down the road. Won't do it while sitting or with the bike turned off. I have bought the house party kit from bagger nation... im not liking this amp so far. So anyone have any ideas on why it would cut out for a second then turn back on?? Thanks for the ideas in advance.

What speakers you running (what ohm rating)... sounds like you are clipping the amp. You may need to turn the gains down a touch

I'm running the rockfords that came with the kit. The gains are at 5 which is what they told me to run it at and my bass and treble are only at the 4th bar which is what they said to run per their instructions online. And if it's clipping the amp then why does it do it only when im riding down the road? ?

I'm on my phone and can't see signatures right now.. so I'll ask what year you bike is first...

Sorry. I don't have that filled out. My bike is an 09 street glide. And the kit I bought it the house party 2000 kits from bagger nation and installed everything like they said to and have it tuned like they said to. With the four channel amp I have the rear 6x9s wired up to one channel then the front 6.5s wired into the other channel

So you are running the speakers bridged? Running the amp as a two channel?

Are the speakers 2ohm or 4 ohm? Also... you running a factory deck or aftermarket?

Sorry for all the questions... but need the info to try and help you out?

Also... are you 'familiar' with audio and have experience or not... just so I know how to 'TALK'

The 6.5s are 70 watt rms 140 watt peak 4 ohm. The 6x9s are 100 watt rms 200 watt peak 4 ohm. Ans ya I know audio. The amp is set to the 2 channel position. I have it wired to run each speaker from the amp. And I was just able to get it pop while the fairing was off and its going into limp mode for a second then back on

That is clipping... so you are running 2 speakers parallel into one channel.... 2 ohm load. That amp is not 2 ohm stable

You need to run each 4 ohm speaker to a channel and put the amp in 4 channel mode.... that is your issue

Well what I just did was I unplugged the rear 6x9s and it worked just fine. No problems. And I figured they knew what they were selling me and had the system figured out to work. They even say in the videos to set the gains at 5. And that's how I have and then each speaker running like it does. But the instructions actually suck to read and don't make any sense for wiring and the videos don't exactly show how to wire up the speakers. So me and my other buddy who have been doing stereos for a while agreed on wiring it the way it is because we figured it would be just fine but I guess not. So why would it be clipping with the four speakers and not with the 2.

I wish I could give you a rock solid answer but I cant... I can only assume less draw with 2 disconnected. Now if you wire it 4 Channels and one speaker to each ... you should not clip at all since you have a 4 ohm load on a 4 ohm stable amp.

You chance frying the amp wired with a 2 ohm load when it's not designed for it

From what I found out. The 2/4 channel switch is only for the input. I rewired the inputs for no reason because all I have are the factory wires that come from the factory head unit. So I have 2 channels for input. It puts out all 4 channels no matter what. Unless running an aftermarket hesd unit. So I have no idea. I'm gonna have to call bagger nation tomorrow or I think im gonna call chris Lowe first and see what he says to. Just trying to get some ideas. Because for some reason it shouldn't be that big a draw. Especially sense everything is ran the way they say to run it thanks for your help

That may be true on the input.( I have no personal experience with this amp)... so wire each speaker to an output and you will be fine. Chris Lowe is a wealth of knowledge. .. I have hit him up several times and always willing to give solid advice

Thanks again. And yes from what I've heard he is very knowledgeable. And I have the four speakers ran individually and it clips. So im just lost. But yes thanks again for your help once I talk to chris I will let you know what he says.

Do that... please... im curious now...not sure why it would clip with a 4 ohm load

Best way I know of to get a hold of him is thru FB at Harley Davidson Bagger Stereo

Yup. I've already chatted with him once about buying horns through him. So yup. Gonna call him and pick his brain.
