Rusty Kuryakyn

I wanted to pass along a bit of information. I purchased a Kuryakyn Mach 2 air intake and a set of floorboard attachments for my Arlin Ness Passenger deep cut floor boards. I called the company to ask why the bolts on the intake and the attachments keep rusting. I was told If I didn't like the bolts they have, I could go to the local hardware store and buy them! I responded again saying I didn't think I should have to do that.
The product they sell should be of better quality. The response this time was "I live too close to the ocean" I live 45 Min away from the ocean!!
The only things that are rusting on my "Stored inside" bike are from Kuryakyn. I will never put another one of their products on any bike I own!

Unfortunate that you are experiencing quality issues. Many years of experience have taught me to gravitate toward genuine Motor Company parts. Even then there can be issues but I find the fitment In general to bemuch better than aftermarket parts the exception being small suppliers such as Fuel Moto, Fullsac, Vance & Hines, and a several others especially seat manufactures such as Mustang, LePera, and the like. Mirrors are a good example. Harley offerings are quality items but many aftermarket items fall short at twice the price. Something for everyone. If the customer service tells you to go to the hardware store I'm thinking your out of luck as far as support.
All the guys that I know that have been riding 20, 30, 40, and more years buy Genuine Harley parts. We never talk about it much now that I think of it but there is obviously a reason.
I was you I would go to the store and grab stainless or chrome fasteners just for piece of mind

Sound info Blues.. I haven't been riding 40, 30 or even 20 years, but have experienced some of the same. I do think some of the aftermarket items are fine. I've bought kuryakyn parts in the past without issue, but agree, get stainless in CS is not following through

I found out several years ago that there parts are far from the quality they should be. I knew when I did my build it was only top of the line parts, plus I've replaced just about every screw with polished stainless steel bolts from diamond engineering, not cheap, but I never have to worry about rust.

I have had alot of Kuryakyn parts over the years. The only issue I ever had was when I bought it off ebay. It was a cheap Chinese immitation.

From my perspective, so far, I have only seen issues like this with fasteners. The accessories are fine but it seems someone is skimping on the bolts.

I've had Harley button heads rust out too. Other than Deco covers or replacing hardware every year, I don't have a good soloution.

I have a set of Kuryakin pegs that have a little rust on the bolts. The chrome finish isn't the best on the pegs either. I've tried polishing them but it doesn't do much good. Its not a showroom bike so it doesn't matter as long as they don't get too much worse. If they do, maybe then I can afford some MOCO pegs...
