A heroic Marine was lost today near Nashville, TN as US Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss (pronounced Koose) Crashed his F/A-18 Hornet 6/2/16 while practicing for this weekends Air Show.

It’s believed he experienced mechanical problems shortly after takeoff with his unit. Its very possible he could have ejected but chose to ride his aircraft down into a small pasture right between two heavily populated apartment buildings.
Capt. Kuss is a native of Durango, Colorado. He joined the Blue Angels in September 2014 and has accumulated more than 1,400 flight hours and 175 carrier-arrested landings. His decorations include the Strike Flight Air Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various personal and unit awards. A candle light vigil was held tonight near Nashville, TN in his honor. Thank you sir for your service to our country.

Thank you Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss for your decision to save civilian lives all the while knowing you would lose yours. You sir, are my definition of a True American Hero. May God comfort your family in the days ahead and your children grow up through life knowing, you saved so many that day. Fly high and rest in peace.
