Seat and Handlebar question

I have a 2016 Street Glide Special. It would be better if the handle bars were about an inch closer to me. It was suggested that since I plan to get a touring seat, I should do that first since this seat should push me closer to the handlebars.

I am partial to Mustang seats. However, in the description it says it will move me back 1.75". So any thoughts on the best way for me to get the handle bars closer to me? I like the current angle of the handlebars so don't want to start trying to adjust them.

Any thoughts/insight/advice appreciated.

I just put the mustang on my '15 SGS and I still feel like my handlebars need to be up and back some. I'm thinking about a set of bars next...

Not all Mustangs pull you back. Thought I read they had one that actually lifted you a bit. I would call them.

And for what it is worth I put a new Mustang on my 16 SGS a couple weeks ago. It does lower and move me back but I wanted it. My third Mustang, love them. So comfy.

I've got the Mustang super solo and it does move you back a little, not sure if it's 1.75. I've been really happy with that seat and backrest. Wedge is right, not all Mustangs move you back. I thought I saw one listed that actually moves you close. You might want to look into the HD reduce reach bars. Suppose to keep the same angle but move them back about 2". I know a couple of the guys here are running them. ( Paul65k, and Mandrew )?

The Limited Low has a extended handlebars which are about 2" longer than the SGS. I had a '15 Limited Low and SGS and you could tell the difference in reach on the low. Here's the part number for them 55800305.

Be aware that the stock Street Glide seat is already 1 1/2" farther back for the driver than is the Ultra seat. When a seat manufacturer tells you it will move you back a certain distance it is in reference and comparison to how that seat fits an Ultra not a SG.
I just put a new Mustang Summit touring seat (part 76860 for 2014 and up) on my SG and it sits exactly in the same position as my stock seat even though Mustang says it puts you back 1 3/4". Measure from the middle of the rear fender seat mounting bolt.
BTW, my new Mustang is wayyyyyy more comfortable than the stock seat.

Also, It is possible to tip the stock bars back an inch. The angle won't change much.

Low & Slow,
Blues

Awesome.. Thanx for the tip blues.. Was planning on tipping my stock bars back this weekend to try it out. Measuring distance forward down up ect just seems to confuse me rather Than help. I've found seats are just like shoes.. Try it before you buy it. One size does not fit all

Rhsra,
I was able to adjust my stock bars (as far foreward as they would go)
By taking loose the small dash panel under the ignition switch and lifting it up a tich which allowed access to the Allen head bolts holding the bottom of the clamps. It loosened the clamps enough to move the bars without taking off the ignition switch.

Good luck
