So my wife absolutely hates the seat on my 2014 SG. My previous bike was a Goldwing so she has been spoiled a bit as far as passenger comfort. I really like the look of the stock seat and the way it slopes down towards the back and I like the clean look of no backrest. But happy wife, happy life......she ain't happy. I bought a detachable backrest, told her I'd compromise the look of the bike and put it on when she was riding with me, and take it off when she wasn't. That helped a little but the lack of padding on the seat is still a big issue. So since the OEM seat can go off and on with only one screw removal, I am thinking perhaps buying another seat while keeping the stock seat. Then I can quickly install it and the back rest when she is riding and remove them both when she isn't.

I had a Mustang seat on a previous Harley I owned and really liked it, definitely thought it was way better than the stock seat. I am looking at the Mustang Touring Regal seat. Does anyone have this seat on their SG?? How's it look?? passenger like it?? It says the passenger part is 14 inches wide, that sounds like it would be really close to interfering with the saddlebags.

Any other suggestions on a seat that would make my wife want to ride with me again?

Mean City Cycle +1
I bought a second OEM seat off ebay and sent it to them. So now I have a stock seat modified by mean city cycles and a stock stock seat. Cheaper than what you can buy a mustang, corbin, or lapera for.

A couple friends have the Harley hammock seat and they really like it

Not sure what your willing to spend but your Harley dealer should have seats to test ride. This way she can pick out her own then you have a happy wife. Not sure if Mustang has this option but it would help.

I got the Harley Hammock seat. My wife really likes it. Several friends have it as well, with no complaints. I put the stock seat on when she isn't with me.

I will be buying a 2015 FLHXS soon. I'm looking at a H-D Hammock seat as I've also heard some good reviews about comfort on long trips. In doing some research on the net some have said that using a detachable sissy bar (H-D) with the Hammock is a really tight fit and may cause the seat and sissy bar to rub and in some cases causes wear spots on the seat. Is anyone here who knows people with the Hammock using a detachable sissy bar with it? I've talked to 2 local dealers who both said it should work, but don't seem to know for sure. They didn't have any detachable sissy bars in stock nor was there a demo Hammock to try it with. The sissy bars are on back order for 2 weeks. One dealer said they have discontinued the demo seat program in Canada.

Thanks,

FLHXSrider

The slope of the passenger seat and overall comfort for both of us is what made me look at the Hammock. The passenger section on the Hammock is much more flat. I'm still putting on a detachable backrest as my wife often falls asleep while we're riding and I'm afraid of her falling off. Or is that my fault for not riding aggressive enough, lol.

Frank,

My wife had the same issue, yes I also had a GW a couple of bikes ago. A friend on a another forum
has a RUSH Cycle Pedic on his Limited and loves it. They have the original version which covers the cutouts on close out now at a great price. I figured for the price I'd give it a try, wow-great seat. I have had two Russell day long seats and it's nearly as comfortable. If interested call Rush Racing and inquire about the ST 0130 two up seat. I do not work for these folks-just a very happy customer

My wife kicks back on the backrest and stays on FB most of the time.... and others.... she is snapping pics left and right...

I hope to get my wife to ride once in awhile after the big wedding in June.

I decided to go with the Mustang Regal Touring seat. The passenger seat is 12" wide and really thick. I just put it on so my wife hasn't tried it out yet, but if she still doesn't like that then I guess I will be solo riding only. My bike definitely lost some of its bad a$$ look by removing the stock seat but with the backrest on with the Mustang seat, it still looks pretty cool....IMO. And I'm hoping the new seat will be more comfortable for me too on the long rides.

Nice looking bike FJH. That Mustang seat looks plenty comfy!

I agree that aesthetics the stock seat fit the overall B/A theme of the SG but I like to think that when my sexy good looking red head hops on the back I have a B/A look no one else can duplicate! ;)
I'm thinking your on the same page with that!

Low & Slow,
