i have a 2013 street glide and have stock speakers. for me the speakers get loud enough but get distorded and the base cracks at a higher volume. has anyone done a speaker upgrade without out puting an amp in and have had luck with just better sound quality? if so what size, make did you use?

thanks

The stock radio just doesn't have the punch needed. You may notice a slight increase in sound quality, but, an amp will do far more with your new set of speakers.

By the way, I have a '13 SG also and just bit the bullet on a J&M system built for the SG. Plug an play. Hope fully it will show up in a few days and I can get it installed with a few other things.

My stock radio seems pretty useless because of the sound quality at all but the lowest speeds. I never had a radio before this bike so I don't know if I will upgrade or not. The pipes on my old Heritage provided all the music I needed.

you are not going to get better sound by changing the speakers. The reason the sound cracks and splits at high volume is due to the lack of power. the stock speakers with an amp will sound twice as good as the aftermarket speakers without. Its just physics.
