Trying to find out if upgrading stock speakers to the boom audio speakers will enhance clarity of sound or do you need to add amplifier too

You will need an amp with some digital processing capability and more power.

Ditto what Hulkss has said.... upgrading just speakers without an amp is a waste of money... many have done and found out nothing really changes until you add more power with an amplifier. There is money to be spent in the audio upgrades... you just have to decide what you want and how much you are willing to spend to get it....

It will sound better than stock but you need an amp to push.
I installed the J&M Rokker 500 watt amp & four 7.25" Rokker speakers it sounds great even up around 95mph
A little pricey but worth it.

You have to remember... those of us with BOOM audio have a DSP ( Digital Signal Processor ) that is built and needs to be addressed... the Rokker will do that with John's downloads. The Rokkers do just that... ROCK... but I need a 2nd job to get some.. lol!!!

Just how much cash are we talking here Spazz?? to fix it right.

I just installed this Rockford amp and 6.5" speakers. Besides removing the speaker "jugs", which is a difficult task for a man that has a xxl size glove. It's all digital, with a nice built in Processor/eq and allows for high level input so there isn't a need for a converter.. It Rocks compared to stock. I haven't heard the j & m system in person, but the Rockford system sounds awesome

Tom.... Go check out the plug and play packages from J&M.... makes it real easy for install, but when you see the prices on some of the items.... makes you think a bit before deciding to drop $600- $700 for an amp... $300-$400 for speakers etc.... I have to say that 'some day' I will get there... just not yet.

I have an amp to install... but really want a plug and play harness so I don't have to cut into the main harness to make it work.... might sell it to someone with the older Harman Kardan units and not the Boom Audio.... It's an Arc Audio 125 2 ohm/2 ch amp

You could rent that nice high speed trailer of yours out for a couple of weekends and have the $$$$$ for upgraded tunes in no time ? ; )

That's one sweet arse bike trailer.

I suggest J&M Rokker series products. I just replace my 2 fairing speakers along with a 500W amp from J&M, the upgrade is amazing! Also, the install is a breeze which is nice. I know there is other great products out there, just sharing my experience.

FYI...I was using the Boom Audio hidden power antenna before I did the upgrade, it worked awesome up until the upgrade was finished. I ended up removing it due to the fact that I could no longer pull my local radio stations. Just food for thought.
