I've got a 256GB SANDISK plugged into my bike...

I initially put my entire iTunes Library of approx. 200+GB on it. The indexing never ended! :(

So I dumped a ton of tunes and I'm down in the low 100's of GBs now,

but I still find the Indexing takes approx 10-15mins from turning the ignition on

Anyone figured out the sweet spot for too much music on a flash drive when it comes to the Index process?

TIA

I remember this issue from 4 years ago.

Make sure USB stick is designed for playback (speed).
Make sure USB stick is formatted correctly.
Make sure each song title is not preceded by other data ie: "001.song title"
Make sure songs are at root level and not contained in a folder.
The largest USB stick I ever used was a 8Gb.

Good luck!

KUDOS Mojo

so I have this: https://www.sandisk.com/home/usb-flash/ultra-fit

Make sure USB stick is designed for playback (speed).130MB/s read speed (is that fast enough?)
Make sure USB stick is formatted correctly.FAT32
Make sure each song title is not preceded by other data ie: "001.song title" will check when I've moved all to root, but I'm pretty sure iTunes uses track number <space> title <suffix>

Make sure songs are at root level and not contained in a folder. def NOT at root. iTunes Music folder stores them in Artist/Album. and currently I dragged and dropped the contents of Music over

I find that if i turn the bike ignition switch on for about 1 minute before I start the bike that it gets done indexing most of the time, I use two different USB sticks, one at a time 32GB with 8,500 songs & 64GB with 10,700 songs on it.

think I'm gonna take your advice and down-size to 32GB and just carry a small selection of tracks. I can always cycle them now and then for the change.

It's not like I listen to EVERY track or even the audio all the time... its a bit of a novelty at the moment, having a bike that plays music. but my intention was to simply take my entire library on the road.

I find trying to search and navigate a bit clumsy, so less tracks and albums would be easier.

THANKS
