Hi,

So you leave the dealer with your new or pre-owned SG and realize that the stock radio just doesn't cut it (or cut through it).

What was the first upgrade you did to improve your sound system?
In other words, from your listening perspective/pleasure where was it lacking?

Please indicate what type of music your feeding your ears.....

I listen from everything from Heavy Metal (80's/90's) to instrumentalist like Joe Satriani, to Steely Dan, to Jason Aldean, and Michael Buble'.

Thanks,
2015 SG.

Hey easyrider...
I hear ya. (Pun intended). I did it somewhat different. Went to Daytona Bikeweek last year and test rode the CVO Street Glide & the SG Special. CVO had upgraded audio. I listen to everything from heavy & speed metal to Classic to alt rock and old school country... as well as lots of smooth jazz (former pro musician/my son is touring pro out of the Nashville ROCK SCENE... Jason Aldean's drummer, Rich Redmond is his best friend and neighbor). We're both drummers. I ordered my SGS with the same system that is standard on the CVO's. What an audio system. 600 watts running 4 tri-ax speakers. Infinitely adjustable fade and eq. I have over 11,000 songs on my 2 iphone libraries including 11 of my kids bands albums (with his MTV special album). I want to hear them just like they sound in concert. The BOOM! 2 set up gives me that. As a drummer, I especially like the sizzle of a studio quality ZILDJIAN crash cymbal and of course the same high frequency quality of a pair of pro hi-hats. The kick drum has to have that sub low thump, and the rimshots on the snare have to have that certain "crack". I get that with the superior upgraded audio of BOOM! 2
Very very pleased. Ain't cheap, at almost $5K but IMO, well worth it.

There are some very good a/market kits out there as well. But I wanted to keep it Harley, and I really like how everything is made to work in concert (another intended pun) and went thru lots-o-testing by the RUSHMORE PROJECT team.

I went custom but modest in cost. I chose our sponsor J&M 300Watt system and have been pleasantly surprised.

For me I'm on my third set up. First set up was a set of Polk speakers and a Rockford PBR amp, it was ok, but I wanted more. Second set up was Focal 165 KRC's in the fairing, Focal 570ac in the lids all powered by an Arc 600.4 XDI amp. My third set which I'm currently installing is same speakers in the fairing, Focal 690ac in the lids, Arc 600.4 Moto amp and a Sony M70bt radio. I loved my second set up, only reason I'm changing lids is that there is finally lids with 6x9's out. Changed the radio because I was tired of the factory radio settings that I couldn't change. For me I listen to just about anything except rap and r&b. If you do change your set I highly suggest checking out Soundz Customz, Pete is a great guy and had plug and play systems for just about every budget.

Like Bryan.... I have a Soundz Customz Level IV audio system ( Arc XDI600.4, Focal 165KRC's ad Hybrid Audio 157-2's for the lids ) I did many months of research before diving in this deep.

Do yourself a favor and and do the same BEFORE you pull the trigger on ANY systm... oh... AND DON'T SETTLE.....

Well After doing a bunch of research I'm going to go with the ....

Amp: Arc Audio

Speakers: Focal (either 165AC or MAYBE the 165KRC)

Ultimately, A plug n play package.
Just running fairing speakers.

Thanks Fellas.

I will also give you some insight to SERIOUSLY consider....

If you opt for the 2 speaker Level IV system from Soundz.... PLEASE upgrade to the Arc MOTO 600.4 over the 125.2. You will be MUCH happier in the long run.

I installed TomA's Level IV 2 speaker system in Feb 2015 on his 14SGS..... he recently upgraded to the 600.4 and was overwhelmed at the performance increase with just 2 focal 165KRC's. He came down a few weeks ago and I helped him complete a speaker lid install. He is TOTALLY thrilled with the final result.

You can run the 600.4 with 2 speakers with AMAZING clarity and performance... AND.... if you want to add a second set later... you are already set up for it! It's a WIN_WIN

I'm with Spazz here if your doing the amp get the 600.4 moto because you will want it later. Did the 125 and it just wasn't enough so installed the 600 and got a trade in for the 125. The Focals in the fairing with the 600 is amazing all by it's self and truly all you need went from running 3/4 to full volume at speeds of 80 plus to half or less volume with better sound quality. I do mean better sound quality one of those things you just don't realize until you hear the difference. Not sure if you have given Peter a call at Soundz Customz but he makes a plug and play system at a good price with all the hardware.

Good luck with your choice and keep us posted.

Both Tom and Spazz are correct on the amp set up. Pete's customer service is top notch! I had issues with my Focal 570ac speakers, he never questioned it and set new ones to me. He's even helped me with my radio in my work truck which he didn't even sell me.
