Buddy of mine is looking at two different bikes:


2007 Street Glide....13,800 miles....older gentleman owns........bike looks brand new, definitely taken care of.......owner has complete service records.....two new tires, new battery, just serviced all oils, and new air cleaner.......<-----all replaced in the past month.

2012 Electra Glide for sale at indy ..........38,427 miles.......maintenance history unknown.....going to need tires soon.....indy knows nothing of the bike's history.


Both priced in the same neighborhood............which would you buy?

I would go with the 07. He's going to have to spend money on the 12 right away in repairs. Unless the 12 has a lot more options I would go for the 07.

2 different bikes really but hard to say without more details such as mods each bike has and what your friend is looking for. Does your friend plan on buying the Electra glide and then stripping down to look like a SG or is he buying the SG and adding all the stuff to make a EG? If that is the case it would be cheaper to buy the SG and strip down. Personally I would go for the EG for the upgraded frame with 180 tire and the bigger motor, better resale or trade in value as well. You can put on tires for $650 and an oil/fluids change for another $100 and have a more desirable bike, or should I say more valuable bike. The only thing that hurts EG is the higher mileage IMO. Do they have any upgrades like stage I, II, III, apes, etc or bone stock? I'm kind of surprised these are the only two bikes in Ohio to choose from. In St. Louis area you can pretty much decide on what bike you want with what extras in a general price range and then take your pick, Craigslist is flooded with HD's any and all models.
