I have a 2016 SGS....looking to get a tour pack for it....here's my question.

While looking in seeing that there are different years for them. Do I actually have to find one specific for a 2016 or will one coming off of another bike work? I'm actually looking at 2 of them now. One is on a 2009 ultra and one came off a 2012 road Glide. Would any pack work if I just swap the mount out, or what? Sorry guys, may sound like a newb question, just wanna make sure I am NOT gonna wats my money or if it's just a matter of changing the mount, want to be sure I know what the end product is going to cost me before committing to one.

I bought a 2005 tour pak and got the mount that fits my bike then I drilled the pak to line the holes and works just fine. I had to use spacers between mount & tour pak, that's it. If you get a deal on a tour pak that's the way to go.... :)

I only use my tour pak when wife & I go on long trips which is not very often but when we go she is very happy with it, not only for storage but how she can securely sit and enjoy the ride.

I think the spacers most people have been using is one of those 3/8 thick plastic cutting boards you get at Walmart. The reason for the spacer is for clearance for your bag lids to open.

Tour pack question

I've got a 14 SGS and found a king tour pak off a 98-99 I believe. Anyway I was able to find a tour pak mount that fit both the earlier tour pak and the mounting dock.
The parts guys at my local dealership were helpful and grabbed a couple until we had a match. Now it's easy to install or remove the tour pak depending on what we are doing or how far we are riding.

u really ought to get a Tour Pak made for the Rushmore bikes, They match up great and the hinges and latches are 100% better than the previous ones. The older ones are too boxy Imo.

OEM H-D Made in USA not china crap.

Very good feedback. I myself bought a 2006 tour pak stripped it down, changed the mount with rubber spacers and color matched to my charcoal pearl 2014 Street Glide and looks as good as any factory one I have seen. It is the King tour making it big and box looking but then again that's what I bought it for, the room and travels. Like Blkdragon it only goes on when were are traveling and can fit 2 helmets.

You can find some good deals on Rushmore tour paks....I bought mine, a chopped, from Boardtracker HD for around $650, the mount I bought off eBay for less than $100. I got a rack from HD Victorville for $60. It was the only thing used, had a small scratch but its barely noticeable.

I agree El Chapo. The king tour pak is square and big. And UGLY. But it does hold two helmets and a lot of stuff. That's why I like it with the detachable bracket.

Tour paks are for loading it with stuff (and storing helmets) while touring so if that's not what one is after and instead for the looks then go for whatever your wallet will buy you. Like whale tail on some of the cars on the road, they are definitely for looks, those cars don't go anywhere near what whale tail is design to do......if I go on long rides by myself I don't
use my tour pak, both saddlebags are perfect for what I need.
